This area will and does get volatile at times, but we ask that it be kept to a dull roar, and moderators will intervene to keep the peace if necessary. The average person doesn't, on the other hand, tend to have a particularly good grasp of what it is that scientists tend to get up to, and how academic or scientific institutions tend to work. They haven't spent 30,000 hours of their lives working directly with up to 100 scientists. So the "a teacher once tried to tell me I wasn't qualified to assess their teaching and I should leave it to the PROFESSIONALS" anecdote is fine for teaching because obviously everyone does actually know lots about teaching, but it doesn't really apply to science where the average person doesn't really have the first clue.Enter the Church and wash away your sins. If your point is that I'm not specifically a climate change scientist, then that is true, but I've had other members of my research group who were. My point however, is that the scientific process is a bit opaque to non-scientists, and you certainly shouldn't assume that because you can judge a teacher that you can judge science and scientific institutions without having experienced them personally like we've all experienced teachers."I hate him passionately", he's "a demonic force" - Tucker Carlson, in private, on Donald Trump

Happy?
I find it funny that when presented with clear evidence that there are errors in the AGW models, that the MSM latches on to the sensationalism of those errors to spread panic and give fodder to politicians for more restrictions, that the only response by the AGW crowd is, well that was just one time, global warming is still real and we need to stop it.
Maybe we need to step back and assess what is going on instead of running around in a panic all the time, ready to pile on unnecessary restrictions at every turn. The same people who are all for restricting businesses to the point of failure are the same ones who complain about low wages for workers and why they can't afford to buy basic needs like housing and food.

Why do you feel that being able to make that judgement about a teacher, somehow enables you to make judgments about the scientific process or international scientific consensuses?"I hate him passionately", he's "a demonic force" - Tucker Carlson, in private, on Donald Trump

Your very demeanor makes me want to question anything you posit. You're pretty much just like that arrogant knowed-up teacher who claims to be a professional. The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

This thread example is not at all any sort of disproof of the established scientific consensus on climate change. It's an example of a few individual scientists making an error and being corrected.
