  • Trump and Russia

Over the course of the last two years, more and more information keeps dropping about the links between Trump, the Trump campaign, and Russia. The latest is this admission from Cohen. I'm really curious. At what point will Trump's base acknowledge that their faithful(less?) leader actually had ties to Russia that impacted on his campaign and election? What exactly will it take?
The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy...returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Martin Luther King

Of course Cohen is such a trustworthy and believable source of accurate information and has absolutely no motivation whatsoever to say whatever he thinks that Mueller wants to hear, right carpe?

What law is Trump accused of breaking?

I'm also curious. What will it take for an admitted liar's words to become credible? I mean, aside from when they throw shade on Trump.

OK so Trump was trying to get a Hotel built in Russia, before he was actually running. Then in June of 2016 the whole thing was called off. How is this illegal or collusion concerning the election?

And if you look at the things they've lied about, they're insignificant. In Cohen's case, he got a date wrong, and that was out of 70-hours(!) of questioning by Mueller and his goon squad. Interview anybody that extensively and you're bound to force a contradiction or a misrembered detail at some point. The fact that this is apparently the ONLY thing Mueller could get Cohen on after such a lengthy interview doesn't say much for Mueller's collusion case.

The problem with lies is that you never know when to believe the liar. Which is why we don't really know when to believe Mr. Trump. He lies so consistently, and regularly, that his claims to innocence are dubious at best.

So I acknowledge that Mr. Cohen could be lying to save his but. But this is another in a long line of disclosures. Are you REALLY going to suggest that, at this point, there is no possibility that there is actually something there?

Actually - none. IMO, this is not a legal issue (unless Trump can be shown to have actually conspired with a foreign power to swing an American election) - it is a political one. The question is, do we want, as president, a man who conspires with our historical enemy to secure his election - or do we want someone who is their own person?

                      Are we talking about Trump?

I don't think Mr. Trump's words will ever become credible, given that he defends lying as a viable negotiation tactic.

OK - so you have no problem with a declared candidate for the presidency of the United States continuing to have high-level business dealings with our historical enemy - and dealings in which they are not actually working with real estate brokers - but with the Kremlin itself?

Somehow, I have the feeling that if it were a Democrat doing the same thing - a different tune would be sung.

So correct me if I don't have this right - but you're suggesting that we should believe Cohen when he tells us about Trump's involvement with the Kremlin into June 2016?

Exactly. Which is why anything you say after that concession is irrelevant.

Does it matter if there were no crimes being committed? You said yourself that this is just politics.
