I'm willing to see the law twisted and stretched and stomped quite a bit to get us shed of UN foolishness. As far as I'm concerned, about the only thing the UN is good for is providing a platform for Nikki.

That's exactly what they're doing. "Illegal alien" has been effectively struck from the list of acceptable terms, and even "illegal immigrant" is frowned upon. "Undocumented immigrant" is more politically correct, but liberals prefer to simply call them "immigrants", making no distinction between those who are here legally, and those who have broken the law to get here. It's an Orwellian abuse of language.

Break the law for me, but not for thee? I generally share your contempt for the UN, but following the law is arguably the most important when it goes against our desires.

In the news today here, NZ is going to sign the UN migration compact, but not adopt an open borders policy.

International Gallup polling has found that if all borders were open, that NZ would experience the greatest percentage population change of any country, more than tripling in population size with a +231% gain to population (followed by Singapore, Iceland, United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, Australia, Kuwait, Bhutan, Canada, Luxembourg). The US would experience a +46% population change, just behind Ireland at +48%.

The notion of global open borders seems implausible at this stage, if "good" countries are simply going to be utterly overwhelmed by people looking to move out of their "bad" countries. Though it's worth noting that about 85% of the world's population would remain in their current countries even if they had the option of moving anywhere they wanted.

              Well Good Luck then.

But I am suspicious of that survey. It says Canada is right up there with New Zealand as more popular than the USA. Yet both of your countries have a very small population and Canada doesn't seem to get a lot of people clamoring to move there. We can't even get our liberals to move there after we elected Trump and they promised!

But hey, maybe people want to move to New Zealand because of the hobbits.

To be fair, it's a lot easier for South American people to illegally sneak into the US than it is for them to get to Canada, and especially New Zealand.

ah! Could be, could be... So basically the Mexicans and South Americans all really want to move to Canada, but the US is just in the way. Yes... So instead of a wall, we need to build a giant path to funnel them through the US to Canada!

Extend the Montreal metro to Chihuahua?

But I suspect Canada looks more popular than the US because the chart gives population percentages rather than absolute numbers, and Canada has a much much smaller population.

I thought the numbers meant how many people want to move there from other countries?
