Well that is something the US cannot back because of our first amendment. I am curious to see what will happen. I think many countries have similar rights of the press and free speech.

The Muslims in the U.N. are keen on suppressing free speech as much if not more than the liberals. Virtually every year the U.N. announces a plan to quash speech that bothers them.

Charge them rent on what? They own the land, they own the buildings, and they long ago repaid the US government loan used to finance construction. They already pay rent on the few off-site premises they use.

That (or using the fig leaf of eminent domain) would promptly draw a lawsuit, wherein the UN would be exceedingly likely to prevail. It's an entirely unrealistic scenario.
