I am, however, kinda surprised to see folks I'd consider to be fairly conservative Christians complaining that a song about fornication and (probably) drunkenness has been taken off the playlists of a couple of radio stations. Maybe you could compensate by having the 'praise band' sing it at the next carol service?
      Please read my list #6.

It's the hypocrisy of the left that is disturbing.

I am amused at the reasoning behind banning it, is all. Very few of the 'Christmas' songs played on secular radio have anything whatever to do with Christianity. About the best that can be said of them is that the lyrics are generally clean.
Enter the Church and wash away your sins. For here there is a hospital and not a court of law. Do not be ashamed to enter the Church; be ashamed when you sin, but not when you repent. – St. John Chrysostom

In your own little mind it will never work, Jim. And such is the hypocrisy of which I speak.

I don't understand your reply. The people making complaints haven't been alive for 6 decades and I am not arguing that people are not reading something into it that isn't there. Am I missing something?

It's not even nearly a quintessential holiday song. Also, none of the rap songs some here are talking about are played ad nauseam, let alone considered classics, so of course they wouldn't receive anywhere near the same amount of attention.
Have you ever really listened to the lyrics of half of the songs from the 1970s and 1980s? They sound like stalker songs..

Some guy waiting to commit murder:

Phil Collins In the Air Tonight

I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh Lord
And I've been waiting for this moment for all my life, oh Lord
Can you feel it coming in the air tonight, oh Lord, oh Lord
Well if you told me you were drowning, I would not lend a hand
I've seen your face before my friend, but I don't know if you know who I am
Well I was there and I saw what you did, I saw it with my own two eyes
So you can wipe off that grin, I know where you've been
It's all been a pack of lies
And I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh Lord
Well I've been waiting for this moment for all my life, oh Lord
I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh Lord

Guy fighting with his wife/girlfriend and stalking her:

Alan Parson - Eye in the Sky

                  Don't think sorry's easily said
                  Don't try turning tables instead
You've taken lots of chances before
But I ain't gonna give anymore
                  Don't ask me
                  That's how it goes
'Cause part of me knows what you're thinking

Don't say words you're gonna regret
Don't let the fire rush to your head
                  I've heard the accusation before
And I ain't gonna take any more
                  Believe me
                  The sun in your eyes
Made some of the lies worth believing

                  [Chorus]
I am the eye in the sky
                  Looking at you
                  I can read your mind
I am the maker of rules
                  Dealing with fools
                  I can cheat you blind
And I don't need to see any more to know that
I can read your mind, I can read your mind

                  Every breath you take
                  Every move you make
                  Every bond you break

So you’re accusing Dean Martin as being a sexual predator. Interesting...

In ff's world any woman consenting to sex back then was really being forced.

People have been listening to that song for over 60 years and have understood it to be what MankyScotGit heard -- a guy trying to seduce a girl and maybe I should add, her not exactly pushing him away. But now, generations later, SJWs have decided that everyone has been wrong all these generations and he's really trying to rape her.

Sheesh, this was as bad as having to explain an obvious joke.
