Comparative Religions 101 Guidelines

Welcome to Comp Religions, this is where the sights and sounds of the many world religions come together in a big World's Fair type atmosphere, without those delicious funnel cakes.

World Religions is a theist only type place, but that does not exclude certain religionists who practice non-theistic faiths ala Buddhism. If you are not sure, ask a moderator.

This is not a place where we argue the existence / non-existence of God.

And as usual, the forum rules apply.

Did Jesus preach or proclaim the doctrine of the Trinity?

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was fully God. 2 The Word was with God in the beginning. 3 All things were created by him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created.

Right, and it even excludes Jesus from the category of created beings, since it explicitly tells us that every single created thing was created through the Word.

Hakeem has to cherry pick his bible quotes and ignore the entirety of the bible in order to support his heretical views. I am sure he will wait a while then repeat the same thing again. It's all he has.

        • Jesus CANNOT BE GOD and be WITH God in John 1:2. Otherwise, this requires having two GODS.

Or you could have two persons who are one GOD! Or three if you add in the Holy Spirit who is also referred to as a person and as God! We should come up with some term for that. Three persons, One God. Hmm, Tri-Unity? No! I got it! Trinity!

Saying "you could have two persons who are one GOD" is wrong because Jesus is with God in the beginning as in John 1:2 then Jesus CANNOT BE GOD or otherwise we have more than one God.

God in John 1:2 is used to refer to the Person of the Trinity known as the Father, not to the Godhood in it's entirety. But because the Father is fully God it's still proper to call Him God. And your assertion that Jesus "CANNOT BE GOD" is patently false, since John explicitly calls the Word (and Jesus is the Word) God in John 1:1.

that doesn't even make sense. It doesn't say Jesus was with God in the Beginning, it says the Word was. The Word is the second person of the Trinity, the Son. Who took on flesh and became Jesus.

Your statement above that "It doesn't say Jesus was with God in the Beginning, it says the Word was" is wrong because John 1:2 says "He was with God in the beginning"

So now you are just denying what the bible says?

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

                          Then it says:

14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.

The Word is the Son, the 2nd person of the Trinity. When he took on flesh, he became Jesus. Jesus refers to the Son, Incarnate as a human being. The Word refers to the Son before the incarnation.

It is saying God (the Word) came to live among us as the man Jesus.

The Word, who was with God in the beginning, didn't become Jesus until the incarnation.

"He" refers to "the Word" in the last verse.
