    Romney on Trump

I have to admit that I found it encouraging to see Romney's OpEd last night. I have been seriously wondering if our new Congress was going to have anyone on the Republican side of the aisle holding this president to account. It would seem that Mr. Romney is ready to step into the shoes of John McCain and Jeff Flake (to name a couple).

Tomorrow, the one-party stranglehold on our federal government ends. Hopefully, 2020 will see even more balance brought to our system of governance, including replacing the travesty we now have in the White House. Then, perhaps, we can all stop giving Mr. Putin what he most wants: a divided America. Perhaps in 2020 we can find a leader who truly knows what it means to unite - and not one bent on getting even because he was picked on at a correspondents dinner.
The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy...returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Martin Luther King

Mitt the Hypocrite sure loved Trump when Trump endorsed and donated to his 2012 presidential campaign, and when he asked to be on Trump's cabinet in 2016, and when he sought and received Trump's endorsement for his 2018 senatorial campaign. Talk about a fair-weather friend. I'm not sure if Romney is angling to run against Trump as a Democrat, or if his plan is more subversive: to run as an independent "spoiler candidate" in order to divide the Republican vote and hand the Democrats an easy win.

The irony is that if Romney had fought as hard against Obama and the Democrats as he has against Trump, he would probably be enjoying his second term as president right now.

I actually agree with much of what Romney said: Trump's character is poor. He can't seem to keep good people in office. He isn't a uniting force in the nation but a dividing one. He has had some good policies and ideas.

But it isn't ALL his fault. The Democrats were unwilling to work with him from the beginning. They were just as dividing as he was. Personalities on the left were just as onerous as Trump (e.g. Maxine Waters) and the total meltdown of the left has caused more damage than Trump ever could. The right didn't lose it when Obama won. We didn't riot in the street when the Democrats took back the House. But the left lost it when Trump won. Acted like two-year-olds throwing a tantrum. Coming up with conspiracy theories, investigations, biased media, the list goes on.

Seems that the chairman of the Republican National Committee is none too happy with Romney -- who happens to also be her uncle!

Source: RNC chair McDaniel sides with Trump over uncle Mitt Romney

In the reinvigorated feud between her uncle, Mitt Romney, and her boss, President Donald Trump, Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel has picked a side: the president’s.

McDaniel was critical of Romney, referring to him in a post to Twitter only as “an incoming Republican freshman senator.” Romney, who will be sworn in as a senator from Utah later this week, authored a scathing op-ed published Tuesday by The Washington Post in which he wrote that Trump “has not risen to the mantle” of the presidency.

“POTUS is attacked and obstructed by the MSM media and Democrats 24/7,” McDaniel wrote on Twitter. “For an incoming Republican freshman senator to attack @realDonaldTrump as their first act feeds into what the Democrats and media want and is disappointing and unproductive.”

That was GREAT!!! Given that the ridiculous back-stabbing flip-flopping turd is her own uncle, that's even better than Dan Bongino's glorious fiery rants.

As much as I think he deserves to be impeached, I don't think that, divided as it is, it would be in the countries best interests to impeach now if he can be kept in check from this point on from doing any more damage to the country and democracy here and around the world. Although, there may be no choice but to impeach if the Mueller report comes out before that. The sad thing is that we also have, along with Trump and his administration, a republican party who has also shown themselves, a great deal of them, to be complicit in abetting the criminal and enemy to democracy sitting in the White House. What a tragedy!
