Kinda reminds me of when JimL declined my challenge to voluntarily give more to the government than he is legally required, and him responding that there is no mechanism to do so.
"I'd give more, but gosh darn, there just isn't a way to do that!"
Same with all these rich liberals who want laws forcing their peers to give more --- nothing keeps them from paying 95%!!!The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

I don't really see the issue. Under the current rules he'd just be cutting off his nose to spite his face if he refused those campaign contributions and would just be handing massive advantage to opponents. The desire to fix that so neither he nor anyone else would have to doesn't seem contradictory.

Two old hillbillies (am I allowed to say that) got together, and there was the obligatory jug of moonshine.
Jeb pulled out a gun and aimed it at Homer's head, and said "pick up that jug and take a swaller".
Homer dutifully complied.
Then Jeb handed the gun to Homer and said, "now, hold that gun on me and make me take a swaller!"The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

But I most strongly support those who push for change while refusing to take big checks, as they need our support all the more, and they are clearly uncorrupted. The group doing this are the Justice Democrats, an organisation who just had 7 members elected to congress including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Fox News, of course, panicked at their goals of taking care of children, creating jobs and saving the planet, plus did its best to trigger the racism and sexism of its viewers by showing 4 winning Justice Democrat candidates who are women of color:
Also worth noting that the Democratic House just passed a very large bill that included significant campaign finance fixes. Of course the Republicans don't want to fix campaign finance laws as they are far more corrupt than Democrats and benefit more from mega-donors bribing them, so the Republican controlled Senate isn't going to take up this bill."I hate him passionately", he's "a demonic force" - Tucker Carlson, in private, on Donald Trump
