    Brexit failed again...
    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world...ain/ar-BBUGSrw

Prime Minister Theresa May's EU withdrawal deal has been rejected by MPs for a second time, throwing her Brexit strategy into further confusion.

MPs voted down her deal by 391 to 242 - a smaller defeat than when they rejected it in January.

The PM said MPs will now get a vote on whether the UK should leave without a deal on 29 March and, if that fails, on whether Brexit should be delayed.

She said the EU would need to know what use any extension would be put to.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said the prime minister should now call a general election. She had earlier warned MPs that if they did not back her "improved deal" they risked "no Brexit at all".

This is what happens when politicians lie to get a desired result. Farage lied, Johnson lied, Gove etc. They all carry the blame for the situation in which Britain currently finds itself.

It was a smaller defeat than the last time- the worst defeat in UK history. This one now counts as third, the second being some time in the 1020s I think. 2/3 for record breaking defeats in parliament isn't bad I suppose...

That was probably the best deal they were going to get. It seems impossible to leave the EU without a hard border either in Ireland or in the Irish Sea. There is a small chance now that Brexit will be abandoned. Although the politicians argue that the referendum result must be delivered, it is also true that the public were not adequately briefed about the issues at stake when they voted.

Best deal they were going to get given May's self imposed red lines. With those in place there wasn't much that could be done, given the four freedoms.

The silly thing is the backstop proposed in May's deal was something the UK actually negotiated to stop a border in the Irish Sea. The UK managed to wrestle it from the EU in negotiations, only to go back and have to renegotiate what they requested to be put in place.

MP’s reject no-deal Brexit. At this point the vote has no legal force and legislation is needed if it is going to mean anything. This was another Government loss but they still have Article 50 and the only deal in town.

Before MPs voted on the government motion, they backed an amendment tabled by Labour's Yvette Cooper rejecting a no-deal Brexit under any circumstances - by just four votes.
This dramatic development led to the government ordering Conservative MPs to vote against its own motion, despite earlier promising them a free vote.
The government motion, as amended, was passed by 321 votes to 278, a majority of 43, reinforcing the message that MPs do not want to leave without a deal.

The Speaker drops a spanner in the works, rules that the Government cannot bring back a motion that was substantially the same as the one that has already been voted down.

Well spotted, CP. I hope you are continuing in good health and happiness and your precious bodily fluids are remaining pure and flowing freely. My own health has suffered a setback over the winter but with warmer weather around the corner I hope to recover my essence to a resemblance of its former sufficiency.

You too CP. When I was a young loon, a woman came on the telly just after school finished and recited Christian names while looking at the viewers through a ‘magic’ mirror frame. She said “I can see you now, I can see John and Michael and Simon and ....
I was never fooled by that.
