I support the idea of a defamation lawsuit but $275 million really is an outrageous amount. It speaks volumes about our litigious society.
People released from prison after decades from a wrongful conviction barely get a fraction of that."I am not angered that the Moral Majority boys campaign against abortion. I am angry when the same men who say, "Save OUR children" bellow "Build more and bigger bombers." That's right! Blast the children in other nations into eternity, or limbless misery as they lay crippled from "OUR" bombers! This does not jell." - Leonard Ravenhill

I think all the Twebbers who attacked him should have to pay their fair share, too.The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

Originally posted by One Bad Pig View PostGenerally, no. The settlement IS the payoff as negotiated down; the only way to reopen that is if one side or the other breaks the agreement. The kid may or may not have it made; defamation suits are very difficult to successfully prosecute, and the settlement would reflect that.
