Of course, I just found it so amusing that he didn't realize that pointing out the kinds of election fraud enabled by touchscreen voting was a Democratic talking point :D.

Right, so you didn't bother to read the source. Wilful ignorance is such a poor debate tactic, but it's one of your favorites.

That, my friend, depends on how you define "peers."

I have a friend who has been in-country for 20 years now. He has a green card - but has never pursued citizenship. Yet he knows this country well, considers it home, and has been my colleague for 20 years. In any real way, I consider him my "peer." Citizenship has little/nothing to do with it.

Does a peer have to be "exactly like you?" Presumably not. If not, then what differences are and are not permitted? At what point do they cease to be your peer?

Last week, the Department of Justice announced that in March, a former Philadelphia election official admitted to, and was convicted of, accepting bribes to stuff ballots for three Democrat candidates for Philadelphia Common Pleas Court Judge. He admitted to inflating the votes in primaries in years 2014 through 2016. He purportedly committed the fraud by standing in a voting booth and voting multiple times. That he acted alone seems unlikely. In Pennsylvania, each polling place must have a minimum of five poll workers to open and operate. They all work for thirteen hours – where were they? This trick could explain why some Philadelphia precincts end up, unabashedly, on election nights with more total votes than registered voters, and an outcome producing 100% of the votes for Democrat candidates. This case is not an isolated incident, as other cases of altering vote counts have been successfully prosecuted.

In Pennsylvania, more insidious than the overt fraud just exposed by the Justice Department, are the myriad subtler ways in which perhaps more systematized election fraud occurs. Out-of-date voter rolls often list multiple names at the same address. Deceased voters may not be immediately purged. Once an individual has voted in Pennsylvania, a poll worker is not permitted to ask for identification. If that individual keeps voting, their name remains on the rolls without question. That’s how dead people vote. That’s how multiple residents at the same address vote. Moreover, if a live voter has recently moved, it is possible they can vote in two different polling places. In the past few years, Pennsylvanians have been successfully prosecuted for: fraudulent use of absentee ballots, either through forgery, or filing without the real voter’s knowledge; duplicate voting; ineligible voting due to lack of citizenship; and, multiple registrations both inside and out of state. These abuses frequently occur in other states as well.

In 2019, Democrat Gov. Tom Wolf signed a law that all registered voters could apply for an absentee ballot without having to provide a reason. Previously, one could only vote absentee by stating on the application that one would be out of state on election day or was physically prevented from voting in person. As previously reported, Wolf enacted one of the more stringent COVID-19 stay-at-home mandates in the country – closing the entire state to all but essential workers. Pennsylvania’s primary was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuing stay at home mandates. Large parts of Pennsylvania cannot reopen until two days after the new primary date of June 2, 2020, and most polling places have been relocated. Predictably, chaos reigns; the likelihood of fraud has spiked. Moreover, Wolf and election board officials are encouraging voters to vote by write-in ballot. Stay home, they exhort. President Trump has a different message and has correctly pointed out the propensity for fraud and election theft when distance voting is the norm.

Something about this makes no sense to me. First, I have never ever gone to vote in a situation where it was even possible to vote multiple times. I walk in, am given my ballot, go to a booth to fill it out, and drop it in a box on the way out. When the voting is electronic, there are safeguards that prevent a voter from voting multiple times in the booth.

The people manning the polling places can commit fraud, so it is important for polling stations to be manned by trustworthy people and to have safeguards in place (i.e., no one works alone) to help protect against this.

As for absentee voting, that is all I have done for the last 20 years, even when I am in town. Again, I request the ballot, it is sent to me by mail or I pick it up, and my name is recorded as receiving an absentee ballot. I cannot vote in person once I have made that request. If my ballot is lost, it is lost and I am out of luck.

I also note this article is pretty strongly slanted to anti-democrat views and apparently ignores the instances of voter fraud perpetrated by Republicans. It also tries to paint as "common" (largely through unsupported insinuation) and problem that study after study has shown to be rare. Even groups trying to build a database of documented voter fraud have found themselves with just over a thousand instances of voter fraud nationwide over a 20 year period of voting, a period during which billions of votes were cast, making the fraud rate less than 0.000001%. Any business in the world would drool to achieve an error rate so low.

Once again, the "boogeyman" of voter fraud is being raised to achieve one and only one end: reduce voter turnout. Why? Because most Republicans know that when voters turn out - Democrats tend to win. And reductions in voter turn out typically are skewed to the poor and minorities, which again directly targets Democratic voter turnout. It is part and parcel of a "win at any cost" model the Republican party has adopted - even if it disenfranchises their own fellow citizens.

You have to be careful with MM. His SOP is to extract a piece of an article, sometimes even single sentences or even fragments of sentences, that paint a picture he wants to paint. He provides the link to the original article, presumably to salve his conscience. When you go to the actual article, most of the time you will find that what MM has presented is not what the article is saying or concluding. In other words - he cherry picks pieces of articles to support his pre-existing conclusion.

He also does that when responding to posters. He regularly takes single sentences or fragments out of context, often changing their meaning in the process. With MM, always follow the links to get the full story. You cannot trust the fragments he posts.

If he were quoting a non-RWNJ news source I would definitely not trust his summary. But conservative outhouse et al. are all just trash so he probably did accurately represent their perspective. It's just that they don't have anything true or useful to say.

Why did not Texas secure their election process? North Carolina has effectively done this. The only election scandal in North Carolina is when Republicans committed fraud in an effort change the election results. They were caught, because the election process. is secure. There is very little evidence of illegal voting in NC.

It seems this story is not evidence of voter fraud unless it is shown that those people never got citizenship.
