I thought he paid so little because he gave something like a third of his income to charity and claimed it as a deduction. Am I mis-remembering? It's been a while.

I remember an article about a dentist who joined scientology.

He ended up making a list of all his assets and liabilities so that scientology could help his wife.

The scientologists ended up using that as a shopping list to lead him into giving up all his assets so they could help on this psychological help for her.

What do people think he is trying to hide?
It's just kinda fun knowing he causes you such grief.
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

Money laundering and tax evasion is possible because it is not obvious from ordinary tax records. It goes on in secret but a tax return would give an investigator a thread to pull on. It perhaps takes more effort than the IRS is willing to put in.

            That's a nifty rationalization.

With what Trump says, the need to twist is almost non-existent. I would assume the same is true of his returns, which is why he doesn't want to release them.

The special counsel is not on a fishing expedition. He knows exactly what he’s looking for. The sloppiness and ineptitude of the Trump coterie — which make Nixon’s Watergate conspirators seem like Ocean’s 11 — virtually ensure that some evidence of wrongdoing is there. The problem is that many powerful and ruthless people are involved in different parts of Russia’s money-laundering scheme. Overcoming the pushback from those quarters [and Mountain Man] may prove the most challenging part of Mueller’s job.

You're mis-remembering. He hasn't paid any substantial money to charity for years. He's also been banned from running charities because he was using the money other people donated to charity as if it were his personal slush fund.

Right, that's why Dirty Cop Mueller's mandate did not specify a crime to be investigated, and he's been set loose like a rabid mongrel to snap at anything that moves.

Trump digs his own holes with his words every day. Just look at his ridiculous reference to the Trail of Tears! And you accuse me of lacking objectivity.

With Trump, to not find something worthy of criticism in his words, you have to place your brain and your conscience in cold storage!
