The two guys were extras/small bit actors on the Empire TV show. They gave police their phone records and texts showing the contact between them and Smollett. I believe they also provided evidence that Smollett paid them $3500.

Well technically, they only did what they were paid to do. They didn't make a false police report or mail a threatening letter to themselves. I guess they could be brought up on conspiracy to commit fraud since they were in on the plan. But yeah I think they traded information for no charges.

What a difference a few days makes. Just this past weekend Facebook and Instagram were censoring articles questioning whether Smollett faked the whole thing and banning those who posted them.

Apparently they are cracking down on "conspiracy theories."

Let me know when they start censoring claims that Trump colluded with the Russians to win the 2016 election and begin banning those who promote them.

That could get him some serious time. Heck even using the US Mail for anything illegal is a huge crime in itself. A lot of con artists and ponzi schemers get caught that way.

It's unlikely he'll ever serve a day for the filing false charges incident what with being a poor oppressed minority (twice over) forced to live in Trump's America, but if convicted of making a terroristic threat in federal court... That's an entirely different kettle of fish. Uncle Sam doesn't play around with that.
