  • Smollett Charges Dropped...

We should all get deals like this...

State's Attorney Kim Foxx's office says, "After reviewing all of the facts and circumstances of the case, including Mr. Smollett's volunteer service in the community and agreement to forfeit his bond to the City of Chicago, we believe this outcome is a just disposition and appropriate resolution to this case."

The statement is consistent with what our sources said about Jussie only getting community service if he'd been convicted. The decision is NOT sitting well with Chicago PD.

This just shows how the famous people can get away with stuff other people would end up in jail for.

Right, community service and forfeits his bond. If you or I did that...

They also sealed the case so Smollett can keep claiming innocence.

And he didn't even have to do any community service! The article said the prosecutor was taking into consideration some community service he did previously! Which TMC says they can find no record of. This smacks of a payoff or blackmail.

They need to investigate their prosecutor.

Not to mention, if he wasn't guilty how could they keep his bond? That is a payoff.

Of course he was guilty, he had connections with Michelle Obama's people.

It was a $100,000 bond. I bet that went into someone's pocket.

Mayor Calls It a 'Whitewash of Justice'

10:45 AM PT -- Mayor Rahm Emanuel is very strongly hinting at corruption in the State's Attorney's Office, calling the decision to drop the charges against Smollet a "whitewash of justice"

The Mayor added, "From top to bottom, this is not on the level." He called for accountability from the prosecutors.

Eddie Johnson Attack Prosecutors For Dropping Jussie Smollett Case

Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson expressed anger over the prosecution’s decision to drop charges against “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett Tuesday in a surprise court hearing.

Johnson addressed the media Tuesday at Navy Pier after hearing the charges were dropped.

“My personal opinion is, you all know where I stand on this,'” Johnson said. “Do I think justice was served? No. What do I think justice is? I think this city is still owed an apology.”

I don't have a problem with that simply based on the principle that if someone is not convicted of a crime then all the dirt uncovered during an investigation shouldn't be publicly released. But based on everything we know, and the mountain of damning evidence against Smollett, I would really like to know the reasoning behind the prosecutor's decision to drop the case.

Of course he's not entirely off the hook since the FBI is still investigating the mail fraud angle.

The police union is demanding a federal investigation.
