      Custom smiley contruction

      Hi all,

Does anybody know much about making smilies ?

I would really like to construct a "hoist by your own petard" smilie but I have no real idea about how to begin.

      Re: Custom smiley contruction

A keg of gun powder used to break fortifications in medieval times.

An engineer of an attacking army (if he was particularly brave) would place the petard at the base of a castle wall and light the fuse, then run. If the fuse was to short the engineer would be caught in the blast and be "hoist by his own petard".

In common parlance the term means to have your position contradicted by the your own argument/reasoning.

I just wanted to make a smiley that run up to a keg, lit it and got blown up. Maybe with cute blackened face effect, except I don't know how to begin.

Have a keg in view the smiley slides on over to it, ignites it, and gets blown up.

I have something similar but for a whole different purpose
It results in being blown up as well.

How hard would that one be to edit ? Assuming that is ok of course.

If you are going to use it on our site as a custom smiley I have no issues at all. As for difficulties I don't imagine it being very difficult at all depending on how efficient you are in making smilies in the first place.

I was planning to use it here yes.

I'll see how I go. Any tool you would recommend in particular ?

All the smilies on this site were created using Adobe ImageReady which comes bundled with Photoshop. Paint Shop Pro has a really good animated gif editor as well.
