Do you really think they will actually find nothing if they are allowed to look where Trump is so vigorously trying to keep them from looking?

I think that they could find something at the very least shady or just extremely embarrassing if they were allowed to look at anybody like that. That's the purpose of a fishing expedition. Fortunately that isn't how our country works. Or isn't supposed to.

I'm always still in trouble again

Find something criminal? Probably not. Find something personally or politically embarrassing? Perhaps, but is that sufficient justification for Congress to arbitrarily delve into someone's personal business?

Couldn't that excuse have been used by Nixon as regards the subpoena for the tapes? Do you really think Trump has done nothing suspicious enough to invoke the responsibility of congress to ensure he is not abusing his power? Congress has the responsibility to remove a sitting president engaging in illegal activities. Are they supposed to only act on that if they have proof of illegal activity first? If so, doesn't that mean that you are saying the congress should look the other way as regards suspicious activity until forced not to?

Russian oligarch money, in the hands of the GOP, McConnell, who is working with Deripaska, Rusal, Kentucky plant …. and so on. Very malodorous stuff, as you would expect, from these ‘holier than thou’ Republican types.

Trump’s campaign to win the presidency required money, as did the Kremlin’s campaign to help him. While these two campaigns aligned in their goal—Trump’s victory—overt monetary contributions from Russia would have drawn regulatory scrutiny, not to mention public ire. Any financial support from abroad, therefore, would have had to be creatively obscured.

It's not personal business, it's the country's business to know who's money is corrupting your democracy, and why.

Yes, its time to unobscure the obscurity.

    um... Yes?

You need proof (well good evidence) before you can accuse someone of a crime and take action. It's how our justice system is set up.

Deripaska... You mean the same Russian oligarch who is good friends with Dirty Cop Mueller?

I understand the bit about personally embarrassing. That would not be a good reason to go after information. Honestly though, he has put so much out there that reeks of abuse of power that he's brought it on himself. Can I give an example? Yes - his refusal to divest himself from conflicts of interest like his hotel in Washington. A hotel that diplomats use owned by the president ... hmmm .... and it goes on and on. There are very good reasons things like that can not and should not be tolerated, and far more important reasons than optics. And by thumbing his nose at those sort of things, he invites scrutiny that otherwise might not be needed.
