    Australian Fascism...

Why isn't this a breach of conduct when it concerns adulterers, thieves, or liars too?

Israel Folau guilty of code of conduct breach following homophobic post

Australian rugby star Israel Folau has been found guilty of a code of conduct breach for a homophobic post the fullback made on social media that said "hell awaits" gay people.

Folau, who is a devout Christian, requested a hearing last month after being issued with the code of conduct breach that Rugby Australia believes warrants a termination of the 30-year-old's contract.
The image posted by Folau on Instagram last month, which has not been deleted, listed "drunks, homosexuals, adulterers, liars, fornicators, thieves, atheists and idolaters," reading underneath, "Hell awaits you."

and saying someone is "going to hell" isn't hateful at all. It is just a Christian warning. The point is to avoid going there. It isn't like he cursed them or wished them there. Like saying "if you steal that you are going to jail" - is that hateful?

Sonny Bill Williams, a NZ Rugby Union player (plays for the All Blacks) who also played Rugby League over in Australia (League and Union are v. different games) is Muslim. And while he has not said things (although all Falou did was quote the Bible .. yes slightly paraphrased) he has tweeted/instagrammed/facebooked multiple pictures and comments about his wonderful friend Imam Ismael Menk

    Source: stuff.co.nz

Imam Ismael Menk was banned from six UK universities in 2013 for his extreme anti-homosexual views. He described same-sex acts as, “filthy”, “wrong” and “acts of immorality”.

Menk was recorded as saying: “With all due respect to the animals, [homosexuals] are worse than those animals”.

While he lives in South Africa, Menk travels the world teaching his religious views and his visits to countries, especially those in the West, are often met with controversy.

Supporting Menk by re-tweeting and praising his comments saw Australian navy Captain Mona Shindy last year forced to shut down the social media account she ran to promote Islam in the navy.

The friendship between Sonny Bill Williams and Menk has been well documented on social media. The closeness of this relationship has caused complainants to question whether Williams endorses Menk’s homophobic beliefs.

To be fair, when these came to light, BMW NZ had just sponsored SBW. The reaction lead to them having to drop him as a brand ambassador, and he's been silent on the topic since.

    So paranoid.

Free speech should not be used to vilify others whatever the reason. Free speech does not encompass hate speech.

I find it strange that warning against the outcome of "homosexual relationships" is condemned, but not "having sexual relationships where there is no intention to form a permanent partnership." Could it be that people who engage in the latter are smart enough to realise that they aren't being vilified? Or perhaps they are smart enough to realise that their action is being grouped as equal to gossiping?

Withal, lack of holiness gets too much airtime - pursuit of holiness gets scant little. That is something that our churches need to address.

Tell that to Israel Folau who may lose his job.

First, yes it does, at least in my country. Second, saying that adultery or stealing is immoral or sin - is hate speech?

Bigots must be condemned particularly when they claim spooky reasons for their bigotry. ‘Christianity’ or any other religion is not an acceptable excuse anymore for this sort of poor public behaviour.

Of course, the idea that people might be allowed to form their own opinions about what is right and wrong is to be condemned. And vilifying people who don't go with the herd should be lauded. And expressing hatred of such people, or even physically assaulting them or depriving them of their jobs, is a virtue.
