I don't know about that. Fighting it out in a court battle, no matter how ugly, is nowhere near the armed takeover of government we see in some other countries, so we still have a claim to "peaceful transfer of power".

Which is why I said "drifting", not running full throttle.
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

Enh, I'd argue a primary is a bit different from the presidential election. Honestly, if the parties wanted they could just choose their candidates internally without any primaries, as they used to; that is just too unpopular for them to do it anymore.

Though I did read an amusing observation, which was to note that for as much as people complain about the Electoral College giving some states too much power (or defending it by saying its removal would give other states too much power), no one seems to bat an eye at the extreme power the current primary system gives some states in selecting the president. Arguably, Iowa exerts more force than any other state on who becomes president.

Yeah the party that rigged the 2016 primaries what with giving debate questions to Hillary in advance and superdelegates designed to make sure she got the most delegates from a state regardless of who won the most votes loves to pretend that they're all about counting every vote.

They could. But instead the Democrats pretended to care about how their membership voted

They don't even pretend. The super delegate system is such an obvious "screw you" to their constituents that I'm a bit surprised that Democrat voters haven't rioted over it.
