I liked the interface change from Win 3.x to Win 9x. I've tried to cling to that look ever since. (Currently still using Win 7, with no plans to change.)

I'm still using XP. I never did buy that new computer I was planning on getting because some other stuff came up and I ran out of money.

Microsoft released an update for Windows 7 today which will remind users that support is ending in 3 months, and recommend updating to Windows 10...

Although the page gives instructions on how to disable the notice through the registry editor, I didn't need to because I'd already run Never10 which appears to have done the same thing.

It also means they won't be fixing security issues, and that will paint it as a target for hackers.

I've heard that, but hackers usually go for the masses -- I wonder if there will be enough "NeverTenners" to make it worth their while.

On the other hand, what else to 13 year old boys have to do these days?

As long as it is financially feasible for Microsoft to continue to release patches, they will never get rid of Win 7. Heck, the Navy still uses XP for a few of their systems...

Which Microsoft OS was it that had their system blue-screening on missile frigates, leaving them "dead in the water"?

    (or am I misremembering that?)
