  • The Ravelry Facsists

I was a member of this group until yesterday, when I heard that they were doing this.

I deleted my account, and not only because of this, but they also are highly vocal in supporting LBGTWXYZ, and I decided I can't be part of them anymore.

The popular knitting and crochet website Ravelry says its 8 million members are welcome to garter, seed or purl stitch their way through thousands of online patterns — but if they want to cast on with any pro-Trump views, they need to do it somewhere else.

The website's administrators announced Sunday that Ravelry is "banning support of Donald Trump and his administration" in any form, including "forum posts, projects, patterns, profiles" and anything else.

"We cannot provide a space that is inclusive of all and also allow support for open white supremacy. Support of the Trump administration is undeniably support for white supremacy," Ravelry said in a statement.

This is censorship at it's finest.

It's sad to see so much hate out there, especially when most of those trying to point it out have their fingers going in the wrong direction.

Why did you quit? You should start posting Trump patterns and stuff! Be a troll!

They are actually banning the accounts of anyone who appears to be supportive of Trump.

I asked in a help thread there yesterday if someone "could please tell me how to delete my account, as I no longer wish to be a member". That's all I said. I got no response, and 30 seconds later my post had been deleted.

I did figure out how to delete the account myself. But if they are deleting posts about how to delete an account, I would get one post in telling them they are biased against anyone who thinks differently than they and it would be gone before you can blink.

              Yes.

It is a forum, and there are people there who sell their patterns. My sister is one of them. She is really struggling with this. She doesn't really like Trump, but dislikes that Ravelry is silencing voices. I told her that I also didn't like the home page covered with rainbow flags and blatant homosexual approval and we should all do the same, and she is also struggling with that.

Someone might do that, actually. I would be interested in knowing how many people have actually quit the place.

It's a shame. I got a lot of free patterns there, and even bought a few really nice ones.

But, as I said to my sis, I have enough patterns now to last me until after I can't knit anymore, so I'm good.

Well only you are allowed to use my awesome name, "Unraveled" -- if anyone else uses it I will have to sue them!

Unraveled.net is available and "net" sounds kinda like "knit"

Such division by sites (and people) like Ravelry should not be supported. We need people that, while able to hold to political viewpoints, still are able to live together as a nation. Influences like Ravelry tend to promote division that could lead to civil war.

I had never heard of Ravelry before yesterday. If their actual goal was to promote themselves through controversy, they succeeded.
"I am not angered that the Moral Majority boys campaign against abortion. I am angry when the same men who say, "Save OUR children" bellow "Build more and bigger bombers." That's right! Blast the children in other nations into eternity, or limbless misery as they lay crippled from "OUR" bombers! This does not jell." - Leonard Ravenhill

I have never even seen any political stuff on there, but I haven't been there, really, in at least a year. I haven't followed any threads except those that discussed particular patterns.

It's really disappointing that the divide in the US over the President has affected this site, and who knows what others. It's difficult for me to comprehend that this type of censorship is not only going on, but applauded and embraced by many.

Um, so how exactly does banning people "provide a space that is inclusive of all"?

Eggzactly! As my dear brother CP is fond of saying.

The hypocrisy is strong with the left side.
