The fake news is not CNN - it's the fake news ABOUT CNN (in this instance). The other two were similar (at least in kind).
They were making a handful of people look like a crowd of demonstrators. That is fake news.

Your opinion is noted. That is not what my research suggests happened. It IS what the right-wing blogs that promoted that theme sought to get sent around as a message. You have apparently bought into that message. I have not. Individuals who were there and observed what occurred do not agree with the right-wing blogs.

They stage managed the photo - inherently dishonest.

This guy is on your side of the fence - this is just one of a number of his videos calling out CNN for its fake reporting.

And it wasn't JUST CNN doing it - The AP was in on it too:

But I am sure your "research" (read, "Cherry Picking Google") didn't show you any of that. But the article I linked to did.

Kinda like when the police show up at a crime scene -- they can rearrange the scene, evidence and actors to suit their camera views, and that's perfectly OK.

My brethren, do not hold your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ with an attitude of personal favoritism. James 2:1

If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not  bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is worthless James 1:26

This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; James 1:19

Yes, it is. But Carp hand waving away stuff he doesn't like isn't about truth, because he just ignored it.

You should care because it should be a news organization's job to document things exactly how they happen and not to stage manage the participants in order to achieve a desired result. What CNN did in that instance was break one of the cardinal rules of the news industry. People have been stripped of awards when it was discovered that they staged or otherwise manipulated the story they were covering. Even "PhotoShopping" an image beyond basic color correction is strictly forbidden by the National Press Photographers Association.

Remember the photoshopping during Arab/Israeli conflicts where smoke plumes were added? And it was so poorly done, because the smoke plumes were identical.

Yeah...sorry, Teal - but I'm not buying it. This looks and smells like Trump's base jumping on the "fake news express" and ignoring the facts on the ground.

Yeah - the article from a perfectly neutral source (said with some irony). Sorry, Sparko - this is just not a conspiracy theory bandwagon I am going to jump on. If you wish to, so be it. But at least you folks answered my original question. As it turns out, I didn't miss anything after all.

Funny - that was pretty much my thought in reverse.

There's just nothing here, folks. A lot of hype from a far-right blog or two that is not substantiated by anything I have found, other than those sites that parroted the blog and cherry-picked video. I'm not buying it.

Right - because the police are absolutely there to put together a news story to be broadcast via video and audio, and would have every reason to be concerned abut lighting, audio, etc.

CP - you're comparing apples to oranges here. Some part of you HAS to know that...

It is a news organization's responsibility to report the story. The story was that Muslims were gathering to protest ISIS. They didn't round up the Muslims. They didn't make the signs. They didn't hand them a script. As far as I have been able to tell, they asked them to relocate for lighting and audio purposes, so they could be interviewed. This is common practice, and the right is making scads of hay with it - to the other people in their own echo chamber. The rest of us just aren't buying it.
