"Our natural experiences (sensory, emotional, imaginative) are only like the drawing, like pencilled lines on flat paper. If they vanish in the risen life, they will vanish only as pencil lines vanish from the real landscape, not as a candle flame that is put out but as a candle flame which becomes invisible because someone has pulled up the blind, thrown open the shutters, and let in the blaze of the risen sun." - C.S. Lewis, Transposition.

Re: What does your username mean?
- Mine is an ancient pagan reference meaning "AntiChrist; eater of little babies and perverter of innocents, lord of the 71st plane of hell, eater of waffles on Friday".

I've come to realize that Ivo just might be right about more things than we give him credit for. And yes, that is scary. -Little Shepherd

Re: What does your username mean?
I ..ummm...borrowed the name from the author Franz Kafka, who wrote a lovely little story about a man who turns into a six foot cockroach overnight. The story is really about feeling trapped in one's own life, (as opposed to being trapped ina human hamsterball.)
"It may be true that the law cannot make a man love me, but it can keep him from lynching me, and I think that's pretty important."
- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

My name is the chord made by all open strings on a standard tuned guitar.
In the grave they chose to make their beds
Now all that they've created comes crashing down,
Down upon their heads
Death is waiting

My CURRENT TEMPORARY name is a twist on the name of the group group Wu-Tang Clan. My REAL name is La Rubia,I originally picked it because it's my real-life nickname, because I have blonde hair and am fair-skinned. But I am CALLED r00bz, just for short. *phew*

Re: What does your username mean?
I came up with my user name years ago because I like to write music and I have been making a computer game in which the main character's name is Melody. (I even found a verse from Scripture to match. ^_^ )

Ok, those familiar with the Aeneid know the reference to the Elysian Fields which was (extreme condensed version...) more or less the "happy hunting grounds" for those who lived good lives- a perfect place.
http://ancienthistory.about.com/libr...bl_elysium.htm
I'm certainly not claiming anything close to perfection but I have a wicked tendency toward being too much of a perfectionist. (just ask my son... and former employees...) My son (age 12) has a very high IQ and to say he is proficient on the computer is an understatement. Fortunately for me, he has an Achilles' heel. The child can't spell...but I can! So as long as I choose usernames, passwords, etc. that are both obscure and difficult to spell (as well as not saving critical information such as c/c numbers and other account numbers on the computer) he can't get access to areas where I don't want him to have access.
I'll be fine until his attention span expands."Your eyes beheld my unformed substance. In your book were written all the days that were formed for me, when none of them as yet existed" - Psalm 139:16 (NRSV)
