In Tolkien's High Elvish.. Dur (Dark) Thorin (Eagle), a long ago reference for me that was used in a game in 1977 and has hung with me as a handle, character name and nickname for years.. shortened often to simply Dur.
Danu Bless, DurLet there be beauty and strength, power and compassion, honor and humility, mirth and reverence within you.

I stole it from one of my favorite books, Carl Hiassen's Sick Puppy. Twilly is the main character that's a bit naive and an eco-terrorist. Eh, I've always liked it.

fideist or fideism means a person who relies on faith and revelation rather than scientific or philosophical reasoning for religious knowledge. I came across the idea in Martin Gardner’s “The Whys of a Philosophical Scrivener”, where in the chapter “Why I am Not An Atheist”, I discovered I am not one either!

Was going to start this thread, but saw it already existed..
The King's Gambit is an opening in chess. It's actually one I don't use in serious games anymore, but I registered for this years ago. And yes, I'm a serious chess player; I go around competing in several out of state tournaments a year.

Wow, an 8 year old thread!
I like ninjas. A friend of mine who is camera shy has a funny habit of turning his or any other random t-shirt into a ninja mask when people are walking around with cameras or at social events. That's where I got the name.

Mine derives from a novelty record of days gone by called "Hoots Mon" by the group Lord Rockingham's XII. The killer line is "Hoots mon there's a moose, loose, aboot yer hoose" which, translated from the Scottish vernacular, means "Goodness gracious, there's a mouse loose about your house".
So there ya go!

Re: What does your username mean?
Mine actually comes from the name of a character of a comic book/ video game/ whatever else we could get it to be. He is the son of the main character who is based off of me(used to use that as my username, but certain people kept bugging me on that one). I would really like to try and get this whole thing started again, but i would need my friend to do so, since he had a lot of the ideas. The 123 was put int, because I often have problems with using the name I want to right from the start, and have to add numbers.

mossrose means mossrose. Or portulaca, if you will. It is a flower that my Mom had growing in her garden. In the south (Alberta), it would reseed itself each year. I grow it every year, too, but here it has to be replanted every year as as annual.

I write and I used to like to say "Anonymous" was my favorite author (jokingly, of course). So I became Anonymous. There you go.

Re: What does your username mean?
Whoah, why hasn't this been pinned?? Epic thread with epic resurrection.
Mine in particular, stems from my name being Estuardo Andrés (close friends called me Andy). When I was a kid, I thought Latin was a very cool sounding language, so I imagined what would my "Latinized name" sound like. Started using it around 2002 as my online name and video game name (where characters are usually named) around 2002. Henceforth;
The Andius that you all know and love. ^^
