I also don't see that it would really work because illegals would probably lie on it.
Which is why I think it's all about politics -- Trump, again, is backing liberals into the corner of 'open borders' while playing to his base that he's defending the country.
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

When the Supreme Court gets too political, a political counter-response isn't a surprise. It isn't uncommon that alternative approaches to a problem are offered when SCOTUS points out a problem with a previous attempt.

It would depend again on the supreme court, whether they decide that representation only counts citizens or total population. The constitution doesn't say, but it could be argued that since illegals and non-citizens can't vote, they don't get representation in our government.

Since conservative votes don't count within California, the conservatives in California shouldn't be included in the census count. Right?

The problem is that liberals love doing things multiple times - like voting. Wouldn't surprise me if they found a way to maximize the census count in their favor for congressional representation. We really don't need conservatives helping them in this.

Do they even ask what party you are on the census?

And if they do, they need to ask "If you answered, Democrat, are you living or dead?"

The supreme court has a majority of conservative justices, one of whom Trump put there. That excuse does not have any legs.

You always contribute a lot of humor to discussions. The decision was unanimous?

What principle of law did SCOTUS rely on?

So Trump is not going against the SCOTUS. He is just going to gather the data from other agencies. I think that makes more sense anyway. After all the social security office will have a list of all active SS#'s which you can only get by being a citizen.

Yep. Left wing pundits are trying to spin this as a humiliating defeat for Trump when what he really did was make a successful end-run around Democrat obstruction. I dunno, that looks like a win to me.

That was a good move on his part - cooler heads prevailed in this case. The president bucking a supreme court ruling would be a very, very bad precedent, if not worse.

It would have been a very bad move to try to go over the ruling of SCOTUS, apparently even Donald Trump could understand that
