They're forced to do it because of the constant, unrelenting attacks (some of it legit, most of it nonsense) from the left. From day one he's been attack relentlessly, which is one of major reasons he got elected. What amazes me is that they ignore real issues, like selling arms to Saudi Arabia, his threats of war with Iran, his belligerence towards Russia (yet the left still accuse him of being a Putin puppet), the fact he still has troops in Syria (which the left actually criticizes him when he softens on the Syria Issue!) and Afghanistan. And it will likely be the reason he gets reelected. They're going to double down with this nonsense, especially if they pick Harris. The race and sexist card they'll use will be nonstop throughout the election as he attacks her and her policies. And it will once again backfire.

Trump exposes what was always there in American politics, but was never said publicly.

Of course it was racist. It was foul and repugnant and just what one expects from the man who peddled the birther nonsense, demanded the execution of the Central Park Five and managed to find "good people on both sides" of the White Supremacist parade in Charlottesville. As usual he will be widely condemned nationally and internationally but it will play to his loyal base and that's all he cares about, because it's all he's got and it's shrinking.

The silence of senior Republicans condemns them.

The distance between Democrats and Republicans has never been greater.

I don't think it proves he's a racist - I think it proves he can be a real jackass.
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

'Go back where they came from" is as old as the KKK. It is standard racist rhetoric for more than a century.

As I said to MM, "go back where they came from" is racist rhetoric that has been in common use from before the KKK was formed.

That is just silly Jim, you can say that to a white person like Mr. Amaco in my old neighborhood who was a Fascist from Italy who hated this country. We used to have a saying back in the 60s, American, love it or leave it. Mostly directed as college radicals, no race involved.

You do not see the upside - Trump has elevated these four whack jobs to be the face of the new Democrat party. I can see the endless loops of commercials now...

Also, the Democrats keep on propagating identity politics. Go figure.
ALL politics are about identity. The right has simply seized on it as a label to paste the left with, when they do the same things themselves - just with different identities.
