Let’s see if I’ve got this right. Obama purchased a house that YOU think is a risky proposition therefore global warming is not true. Great argument there Sparko.

Because all scientific discussions on tweb about climate change takes place in Civics.

Ignoring the political isn't 'not appealing to emotion' - it's not attempting to make meaningful change.
I've only been addressing specific claims by people here on tweb. In some cases I've even answered direct questions from you. I've tried to do so mostly by appealing to the evidence, or to explain things. I fail to see what is wrong with that Teal.

FYI: It also hurts the argument - if I (general) don't have the ability to weed through the science then I (still general) have to weed through who I trust.
But you (specifically) do have the ability to sift through the evidence. At least judging by your posting you enjoy reading articles from Cow Poke and others. I also think you're good at asking critical questions. And its you I'm debating, not some faceless mass of people. I'm on TheologyWeb to argue with Cow Poke, or Sparko, or you, or seer or others. Not anyone else.

      No, socialism.
      Hah!

There was nothing socialist about those mining companies closing up shop, or them refusing to open up again. The regulations on what mining companies could get away with rightfully got tightened, it became unprofitable for them to strip mine those areas. They closed up shop. They owe zero allegience to their workers, because in capitalism companies only have to care about their employees when they're running a business.

If you had more comprehensive social welfare there would be job training programs for those workers. There would be efforts to relocate them to other areas where they could be productive.

If Capitalism is so amazing, why didn't the companies do that out of the kindness of their hearts?

In a purely capitalist economy, no company would ever do anything out of the kindness of their hearts. Indeed, without unions and legislation to prevent it, we'd still have people living in company houses and owing so much to the company store they couldnt shop anywhere else. The 'nice' tech company atmosphere exists only because they could be convinced keeping unions out and costs down required it.

Your "actual point" is infantile, no surprise there, and does nothing to address the reality of global warming.

And if we're talking about the one I think we are, it was a public utility.

No, he doesn't. Literally can't be prosecuted while in office.

At least he didn't call us Mississippi like CNN did.

When we lived in Tyler, there was a local ABC (I think) affiliate there where, apparently, people went to have their first experience doing the news or the weather or whatever. And we used to laugh because it seemed like the only qualification for a weather girl to be on the air was.. um... she had to be pretty and have... um... certain female attributes.

There was one young lady who had a passion for doing the weather, and loved to talk about the jet stream, and how "Today, we see the jet stream coming across California, then swooping up into Colo.. New Me... um... This western region.....

                          She was quite a show!

I went to college in New Mexico - an amazing number of people didn't know it was a state. Probably a few still think I was studying in Mexico.

When I was a kid, we had to learn something in skrewl called gee-hog-raphy. (or something like that) Not only did we have to find the states on the map, but correctly identify them, along with their capitols. Even that big'n up left of Canada, and the one way down on the bottom left corner of the map.
