If you have ranked choices (say, top three), feel free to mention that as well.

This is purely for my own curiosity.
First off, to pick a nit, it's "Democratic Candidates." The adj. form has been that way since the early 18th century.

As far as being able to beat Trump, right now I guess I'd go with Biden based on the polls, but Biden concerns me a little. He seems a little feeble and his heart doesn't seem to really be in it. After that, as far as electability, I guess Bullock and Klobuchar could appeal to moderates and Independents.

As far as my ideal candidates, Warren has a lot of good proposals as does Buttigieg, but I don't think we're ready to elect a gay President.

Tim Ryan too would be a good choice for both categories.

This is my choice as well. Not saying if I was American I would vote for her in favor of Trump but if she becomes the candidate (very unlikely though) I would give a huge sigh of relief. She seems to be level headed and willing to at least talk to people on the other side of the fence.

I didnt go to religion to make me happy. I always knew a bottle of Port would do that. If you want a religion to make you feel really comfortable, I certainly dont recommend Christianity. - C.S. Lewis

She definitely says all the right things, but we know how that usually goes. She even seems to support the first amendment (surprising for a democrat). Her stance on the second leaves me concerned.

I like Gabbard on foreign policy.

She also seems beholden to the whims of Israel who doesn't take too kindly to shia terrorists and the countries they represent (even though she has taken a rather firm stand against the Syrian conflict). Also, being a military person would seem to indicate she'll bend over backwards for the MIC and its whims. Also, being a woman, she may feel the pressure of having to assert herself as exceptionally aggressive militarily than a man. But, yeah, like I said, she says all the right things about foreign policy.

If you're going to look that hard for ulterior motives in lieu in the candidate's stated positions, there is little point in discussion.

No skin in this particular game, but I'm hearing the progressive wing of the Democratic Party made a good showing, but I have little confidence that the party itself will allow them to go through.

Though to be honest, I think any Democratic candidate that gets confirmed should be voted for in favour of Trump by Democrats in the population. Much like the 'liberal' wing of my own country, purity seems to be much more important than actually winning, which is frankly bizarre.

I should note that this was the assessment of CNN political commentator Chris Cillizza who declared after being asked who were the winners and losers of the debate:

Donald Trump: An extended conversation about eliminating all private insurance. A top-tier candidate -- Warren -- fully embracing decriminalizing illegal immigration. All of that is music to the President's ears. Remember that his poll numbers -- job approval that has never broken 50%, etc. -- suggest that there is no positive message that wins Trump a second term. Which means he needs as much fodder as possible to cast Democrats as deeply out of touch and representative of a creeping socialism. He got plenty on Tuesday night.

I'm always still in trouble again

All elections are local. People will vote in a national election based on how it impacts them at home. The extreme left view of many of the candidates for Democrat may well cause local Democrats to stay home, or hold their nose and vote for a second term for Trump.

(This, of course, does not include those who make all of their decisions based on the LiberalTalkingPointsForDummies)
