Wounded puppy? Just pointing out the obvious. Straight up insult? Calling you a jerk? that barely registers up against what you lob out in at least 2 out of 3 of your posts. And how many insults had I dealt with from you prior?

MM - if I gave you on a post by post basis the bovine feces you lob at me in nearly every post, you would simply go so ballistic you'd get yourself banned, or you'd put me on ignore permanently like teal did when I reflected back to her 1/10th of what she regularly spews at those she disagrees with. Like most bullies, you can dish it out, but you can't take it.

Don't kid yourself, Jim. You did more than just call me a jerk, but it really doesn't matter; I'm happy to take whatever you want to dish out. I'm just pointing out your trademark hypocrisy, where you preach tolerance and civility but are quick to drop the charade whenever it suits you. I'm reminded of a lyric from the Steve Taylor song "Violent Blue":

So when did you throw out the rest of the world
deaf from the din of your self-righteous babble?
I think you've been blinded by your own light.
Some may call me foolish, and some may call me odd
But I'd rather be a fool in the eyes of man
Than a fool in the eyes of God

MM - I respond to some attacks with a defense, not all attacks, but if they go on a while, I might respond harshly. I do not ATTACK without provocation, except in a few cases where I confused who posted what when. That almost always has happened during a pile on by several of TWEB members at once. You like to pretend you didn't start it, its all part of your Schtick. And it works because not everyone has followed a conversation from the beginning, or knows what thing has been said in a previous or parallel thread. But my goal is civil conversation - period. And to those that will allow it, that is what I try to give.

The primary problem I have implementing that with you is that you never stop attacking, and eventually it provokes me, and then, just like you are doing now, you try to pretend that makes me a hypocrite. But my friend, we are commanded NOT to provoke others to anger, and you violate that on a daily basis, and then you take that extra step and try turn that provoked response into another kind of attack where you try to use the person's good nature against them - exactly as you are now.

You are the hypocrite here MM. I hate these nasty little conversations about how did what when. You live for them.

I didn't attack you. I commented about a Rasmussen poll indicating 35% support for Trump among blacks. You said, "I don't personally know any blacks who support Trump." I said, "So?" And then you launched into an unprovoked attack (yes, an attack) implying that I was behaving childishly.

But, of course, you have your rationalization at the ready. Don't worry, we can still bask in the glow of your perfection and be better people because of it.

            • Our friend, Michael Gerson, shares his thought on the ‘1619 Project’:

Conservative reaction to the New York Times’ “1619 Project” — an attempt to tell the story of slavery and its lasting effect on American political, economic and social structures — has been both disappointing and instructive.
The attempt here is to defend the honor of the American experiment by denying the uniqueness of its hypocrisy on slavery. In one way or another, all these arguments ask us to consider the inadequacies of the Founders within the context of their times.
But to deny the uniqueness of American guilt on slavery is also to deny the uniqueness of its aspirations. Americans are required to have ambiguous feelings about many of the country’s Founders precisely because of the moral ideals the Founders engraved in American life. The height of their ambitions is also the measure of their hypocrisy.
In 1759, Quaker Anthony Benezet wrote “Observations on the Enslaving, Importing and Purchasing of Negroes,” which presented eyewitness accounts of the cruelties of the slave trade. Benezet called slavery “inconsistent with the gospel of Christ, contrary to natural justice and the common feelings of humanity, and productive of infinite calamities to many thousand families, nay to many nations, and consequently offensive to God the father of all mankind.”
Denied the blessings of liberty, African Americans became the instruments by which the promise of liberty was broadly achieved. The victims of America’s moral blindness became carriers of the American ideal.

"Yes. President Trump is a huge embarrassment. And it’s an embarrassment to evangelical Christianity that there appear to be so many who will celebrate precisely the aspects that I see Biblically as most lamentable and embarrassing." Southern Baptist leader Albert Mohler Jr.

Again nothing new, and "America" is not guilty of slavery. Some Americans back in the day were, but even that wasn't the majority. And some Americans even died to end slavery.

And you show, yet again, why you get treated like garbage and are too blinded by your own self righteousness to see it’s because of comments where you treat your opponents like garbage. It’s everyone else’s fault, but his holiness.
