    Relevance of offensive = 0

Only important question is whether claim is true, not whether offensive.

Dual loyalties means competing priorities, also chance of traitors. If smart, countries minimise dual loyalties by no dual citizenship etc.

How is that substantively any different from Trump's comment yesterday that "Any Jewish people that Vote for a Democrat, I think it shows either a total lack of knowledge or great disloyalty"?

Either American Jews have a loyalty to Israel or they do not, and either it is offensive to claim this or it is not.

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

The accusation of dual loyalty is an accusation of disloyalty - you can care about two nations at once but the day sometimes comes when a choice has to be made. Saying someone has a dual loyalty is like saying you don't know if you can count on them.

So at the very least she is accusing American Jews of being untrustworthy - a frequent accusation leveled by anti-Semites. If the statement were made without a history of other such statements I'd say it probably was a mistake and not intentioned the way it sounds. But you only get so much rope - and Omar has used hers to hang herself.

Trump, on the other hand, has no such reported history - and yeah, he's not making a good case here. He seems to be saying that they are voting against Jewish interests - if so, fine. But it reads that they are voting against Israel's interests and that is a backwards version of what Omar said.

No, Scripture refutes this understanding. It's not 'dual loyalty' to serve a king (or president) who himself serves a Greater King. Christians heed government because government is granted authority by God.

But serving two of earthly kings/rulers/governments is dual loyalty. No man can serve two masters.

In our county commissioners court every Tuesday morning, somebody from the ministerial association will offer a prayer, then the group will pledge. They very stubbornly pronounce the "one nation under God" as a solid phrase, rather than the "one nation... under God"... that seems to be so common. I guess we display dual-loyalty, though, because after the Pledge of Allegiance, we do the Texas Pledge.

Romans 13 pretty much tells us to obey our governments.

At least as long as they are doing what God wants them to.

At this point, our county government - particularly commissioners court - is at least friendly to a "God is in control" view, and they (with one exception) recognize that they are stewards of all God has provided.
