I used the acronym, yes. I did not use it to explain your opinion or to dismiss its content. Further, I dispute your characterization of it as "imagined."

I don't know anyone who voted for Trump in 2016 who would switch in 2020, even if the stock market dropped to 5000 and we were in actual shooting wars with China, NoKo, Iran, and Russia.
There is a question of 'switch to what?' The socialism bandwagon that is the Democratic candidate field? I think all but one of the contenders for the third debates supports the green new deal - no Trump supporter, no matter how grudgingly they voted for him to begin with, is gonna vote for that.

          The options are:
          Vote Trump.
Vote for whatever socialist the Dems nominate.
Vote for a minor party candidate, which would probably be a socialist or an anarchist.
          Vote for a write in.
Vote for a write in cartoon character (but Bloom County isn't in print and BtC will get a swollen head if we nominate his namesake again).
          Stay home and browse Netflix.

Honestly, the first one and the last one are probably gonna be the most popular.

Yeah, the Republicans did lose the midterms - but mostly from the uncharacteristic drop off in turnout. That is probably due to so may crossover and moderate votes that came out for the presidential race but not the midterms.

If Trump can excite his base - which is looking good at the moment - and the Dems can't, we'll probably not only see him re-elected but the Republicans take both Houses.

STILL too early - and polling is looking weird in the Senate - but yeah, quite possible from what we see now.

              wow
Okay, I'm trying to ignore his responses - really I am - but if he's AGAIN saying that any support of Trump's policy's is proof of absolute support for the man himself, I will mention that the converse is ALSO true - which would mean any OPPOSITION to Trump is SUPPORT for abortion.

Soooooooo glad I have him on ignore...

This - in addition to overall laziness - is why I wouldn't want to be a mod again. Ignore - it's what's for supper!

                  We disagree almost completely then.

                    wow
Why does his point about wanting a strong NATO alliance warrant a "wow"? It's an incredibly important geopolitical issue right now, with not only China but Russia on the rise? You can disagree, but it deserves more than "wow".

I had high hopes for the American Solidarity Party, should they get on the ballot in whatever given state I end up in, but the fact that they're considering nominating a candidate who wants to decrease the US's GDP is indicative of the direction they're going into.

Since I unexpectedly ended up in a swing state, it looks like it's going to be a major candidate, and not the one you want.

Foreign policy, even when critical, isn't more important than a branch of government. Might be more pressing or acute, but never more important.

Yeah, we gotta work on his 'wow' thing...

You vote for whomever you think is best - I don't think it's fair to ask more than that of any voter.

And... my condolences in advance - it's not likely you're gonna be all that happy with whichever one you do get.

I think the easiest way to determine why a problem is perceived is to imagine it switched. If Obama had said it, what do you think the reception here would be? (Especially given that one of the most frequent criticisms of Obama on TWeb is his arrogance, which is an accurate criticism.) I also imagine there would be flak over him pigeonholing all American Jews into one group.
