Synopsis: UNIT is providing security cover at an experimental drilling project designed to penetrate the Earth's crust and release a previously untapped source of energy. Soon, however, the drill head starts to leak an oily green liquid that transforms those who touch it into vicious primeval creatures with a craving for heat.
The Doctor is accidentally transported by the partially repaired TARDIS control console into a parallel universe where the drilling project is at a more advanced stage. Thwarted by his friends' ruthless alter egos, he works to save both universes.Last edited by Mountain Man; 08-26-2019, 12:56 PM.Some may call me foolish, and some may call me odd

Way back in the 60's there was a dreadful sci-fi disaster movie called Crack In The World. The premise was scientists tried to drill all the way to the Earth's core to tap the geothermal energy there. Of course the experiment backfired and a large crack appeared in the Earth's mantle, a crack which then widened and propagated until it circled the whole globe. (spoiler) The climax is when the crack came all the way around and created a continuous breech in the mantle. Then a giant blob of glowing magma was ejected and created a new moon.
Needless to say the movie wasn't nominated for any Hollywood awards.
Hey, I saw it as a kid eating a 10 cent bag of popcorn at the Saturday matinee so it seems great at the time.
