ETA ... okay, there was a germ of truth in this. Mann's research used datasets from a wide variety of sources, some of which were proprietary. The vast majority were always available.

The political fodder/legal haranging is of little interest to me, however, though the Mann reconstruction has been found to have statistical flaws, those flaws make little difference in the reconstruction itself or - more importantly - it's overall conclusion that we are warmer now than any time in at least the last 1000 years.

This is another case if anti-climate pseudo-science and mania trying to invalidate legitimate science. What should have happened is that that the mistakes made should have been pointed out through additional papers and research and the final output adjusted to reflect them. In fact, outside the mania of the pseudo-scientists working from their preconceived notions rather than the implications of the data, that is exactly what has happened.

it was not far off the mark. Most later temperature reconstructions fall within the error bars of the original hockey stick. Some show far more variability leading up to the 20th century than the hockey stick, but none suggest that it has been warmer at any time in the past 1000 years than in the last part of the 20th century.

Sounds like he is just trying to reframe it to save face. What CP posted didn't say anything about "winning" the lawsuit. It said it was dismissed. BECAUSE MANN refused to provide the data. Which he knew would show him a fraud. So rather than be exposed as a fraud, he refused and the case was dismissed. That pretty much tells us that he is a fraud.

It's a nonsense claim, you see these things in the fringosphere. This isn't a news site. No editorial controls, so nobody's there to keep them from making stuff up.

If it were true that he didn't produce documents (ordered 8 years ago, causing the case to be dismissed now .. it's not even a coherent lie), yeah, it sure would make him look like a fraud.

Me, I'm thinking since I've actually seen the data, worked the data ... hell, remember when Leonhard pulled them down? ... it's the fringe site that's being dishonest here.
