Sounds like this is still being floated. Hopefully, this plan will just float away on the wind.

I agree. I believe there is more than sufficient evidence for consumers to take a long hard look at whether this is something they should be doing, though.

Also a lot of the flavored stuff comes without nicotine (you can get it both ways)
From what I have heard it isn't even really thc.

Unfortunate, I don't think the government has ever found an effective way to ban vices.

I'm not sure that'll work out much better than when they banned alcohol.

What are the nicotine addicts going to switch to, then?

Which actually worked better than most people think.

I looked up the percentage of adult Americans that smoke. As of 2016, it was estimated to be 15.5%, which is lower than I expected.

If you're saying that it cut down on alcohol consumption, sure. It also had a lot of very undesirable effects that ended up making people repeal it that we'd see a reprise of, such as giving considerable rise to organized crime.

Like gangs? They predate Prohibition by fifty years. Criminal organization? Predates Prohibition by nearly one hundred years. Criminal territorial wars? A hundred years before Prohibition.

What was new was advances in weaponry - Tommy guns are much more efficient than six shooters - and media - radio brought the gory details into the living room in a way that newspapers couldn't.

Like the modern serial killer, the media had people convinced gangs were a new and ever growing menace. In reality, they were real and deadlier to each other, but weren't around every corner, blasting the city away. Prohibition provided a new market and that did set off territorial wars, but they were nothing new, just better armed and on the news every night because ratings.

And alcohol consumption has never fully recovered.
