    A side topic: I was listening this morning to OA338;

    Then, it's time for the main segment, which is a deep dive into the "administrative state" and specificially the "nondelegation doctrine" at issue in U.S. v. Gundy.
    The relevant discussion starts at 10.00 mins. I think it would interest you and I would like to know your opinion.

    From what I understand the House conducts the investigation and if they find it has merit it goes to the Senate for the "trial"

    At this point, Trump does not want to give the House democrats the air of legitimacy by participating in the "investigation"

    That much, I agree with.

    Wrong CP, you're a confused old man who thinks his sources proved me false because you see only what you want to see. The President isn't showing up to defend himself, in an actual court he would have no choice but to show up, in a real court Trump would probably already be in custody and he'd be escorted into court. As President, he gets special treatment. Being an ex "law man" you'd think you'd understand the difference.

    He's not only not participating, he's obstructing the investigation in a way that an ordinary defendent doesn't even have the power to do. Besides, the fact of the matter is that he has no defense and he, and more importantly, his lawyers, know it. So, knowing him to be an unconvicted criminal, they are using all the powers of his office to defend their client. Btw, welcome back Sparko, you've been missed, I hope all is well with you.

    The House's hearings are more like a grand jury than a trial. They can pee and moan and toss dirt in the air and commiserate and have all the horsie poo they want without Trump -- the real trial doesn't begin until this circus folds its tents and hands things over to the Senate.

    Jim, that's only true of felony charges brought at arraignment and trial - you don't even have charges. Or, to the best of my knowledge, a subpoena. If the Judiciary committee wants the testimony, they know what to do - but they aren't doing it.

    No one is required to show up for an investigation - marsupial or otherwise. Only fools show up to keep the witch hunters from humiliating themselves - and Trump is simply proving he's no fool.

    Pelosi might be able to force this crap through (still dubious) but the Senate trial will destroy the Democrats for years to come - assuming they stay together.

    The Dems have only one way out - and their leftist base will eat them alive for it - find an excuse to drop it. Censure will only irritate the base and everyone else. Impeachment is suicide.

    Any way you look at it, the Dems will be having crow for Christmas...

    Oh the Irony here of someone who needs to invest in a monitor since the Mirror he is using does nothing for him.

    Sorry Tea, but you are apparently living in a parallel universe. The Dems will file articles, and the evidence is irrefutable and getting worse every day. The democrat leadership is beiing responsible whether it's in their best interests as a political party or not. You are correct about one thing though, the Dems have only one way to go and that way is the right way, i.e. to protect the constitution and hold the president responsible for trampling it whether the, so far unprincipled republicans in the Senate, care to do the same or not.
