    Really?

Scalfari: Pope Francis Told Me That Jesus Incarnate Was a 'Man ... Not at All a God'

This story was updated at 2:25 p.m EST to include a brief statement from the Vatican, which does not deny what Scalfari reported about Pope Franics, only saying it "cannot be considered as a faithful account of what was effectively said, but represent more a personal free interpretation of that which he [Scalfari] heard." (See below.)

In the latest edition of La Repubblica, Pope Francis' longtime atheist friend and interviewer, Eugenio Scalfari, claims that the Pope told him that once Jesus Christ became incarnate, he was a man, a "man of exceptional virtues" but "not at all a God."

The teaching of the Catholic Church and most Christian churches is that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was incarnated as fully man and fully God.

Atheism is the cult of death, the death of hope. The universe is doomed, you are doomed, the only thing that remains is to await your execution...

Pope Francis somewhat reminds me of Trump, in the very specific sense that he's often confusing and/or misinterpreted, but at the same time he seems to invite much of this confusion and seems to offer very little clarity.
I DENOUNCE DONALD J. TRUMP AND ALL HIS IMMORAL ACTS.

I think the interpretation of Church Militant may be most accurate. However that said, I have often believed that Pope Francis may end up being declared an antipope. His presence has triggered quite a problem with conservative and faithful Catholics vs the C and E (Christmas and Easter) Catholics. I have myself had many issues with him.

I don't think I've ever seen a more irrelevant pope. About the only time he's in the news is when he says something dumb.

Fortunately, he doesn't Tweet a whole lot.

        (Does he Tweet at all?)
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

          Apparently yes.

His Twitter handle is Pontifex. It was a question I missed in a trivia competition. I won't forget it now.

Blast the children in other nations into eternity, or limbless misery as they lay crippled from "OUR" bombers! This does not jell." - Leonard Ravenhill

Eugenio Scalfari is a writer who by his own admission doesn't actually take notes on interviews, and his high age brings up questions concerning the accuracy of his memory. For that matter, this apparently is something he's claiming Francis told him in the past, which raises questions as to why Scalfari is only saying this now.

So we have secondhand information from an source of questionable reliability saying one thing, and people somehow think this is more credible than the various times Francis has affirmed the divinity of Jesus? Why? (the answer, incidentally, is almost certainly "because it gets clicks")

Whatever valid criticisms there might be to make of Francis, this doesn't seem to be one.
