Is the blame all on one side? Yes, the left goes too quickly to their default racism charge, while the right goes too quickly to their "unamerican" charge, ie if you're not 'sufficiently conservative',(in the way they've decided true Americans should be) then you don't love this country. The left wraps itself too much in its moral/egalitarian purity banner while the right wraps itself too much in the flag and God. The left doesn't 'own' moral/egalitarian purity and the right doesn't 'own' patriotism or God.
