Meet the Attorneys Representing the Whistleblower Who Helped Launch the Impeachment Inquiry

Andrew Bakaj is lead counsel, while Mark Zaid is co-counsel. Both are well known national security attorneys. In an interview with Washingtonian, Zaid says the representation first came to Bakaj as a “a typical case referral,” and then Bakaj brought Zaid in to help. Before Bakaj founded his own firm, Compass Rose Legal Group, he was an investigator in the inspector general’s offices at both the CIA and the Department of Defense, working on probes into whistleblower reprisals. “He actually wrote the CIA’s internal rules on whistleblowing. He’s one of the best people suited for this representation,” says Zaid. Though Bakaj is not yet 40, “He has some of the most worthwhile experience of any whistleblower lawyer ever. I’ve been doing it 2.5 times as long, but the experience he has from the inside is so valuable and makes such a difference,” Zaid adds.

Might be even nastier - intel personnel cannot legally accept gifts from foreign nationals - that donor list could put him behind bars.

Pity it's not a public defender - he'd have perfect grounds for incompetent counsel.

But the transcript (the thing that the Democrats keep hoping everyone forgets about) contradicts these "impressions" and "feelings." The TDS crowd never counted on Trump releasing the transcript of the call which blew a big hole into their plans. They thought that it would remain secret and that they could continue to fabricate wildly distorted renditions (see Schiff's version) that the MSM would report as fact (again see Schiff's version).

I'm always still in trouble again

The 'transcript' is one of the most damning pieces of evidence against him in the impeachment inquiry.

                  Wow that's delusional.

The incriminating transcript was released to the public before Schiff acted out his summary of it to congress. Try getting your basic facts correct before inventing delusional conspiracy theories about the democrat's motives.

The transcript was released publicly on Sept 25. The whistleblower complaint was given to congress on Sept 25 and then to the public on Sept 26.

Schiff's acting out of the call that you're getting twisted up over, was done on Sept 26, after the call was already public, and the same day as the whistleblower report was made public, and Schiff's summary was an accurate summary of the criminal elements of the call as depicted by the call transcript and the whistleblower complaint. (As anyone was perfectly capable of concluding by reading both the public call transcript and the public whistleblower complaint, as I did)

So no, the Dems were not busy chuckling at their evil and cunning plans and believing that "Schiff's version" would deceive everyone only to have a giant hole put in their plotting by an even more cunning Trump out-strategizing them by releasing the transcript to prove Schiff's version wrong. That lunatic theory doesn't fit with even the basic timeline of events. Unless you think Trump has a time machine and used it to go back in time and release the transcript to the public before Schiff did his version of it. Though frankly a time machine is probably the most plausible part of the nutty conspiracy theories you guys express on a daily basis here.

                    Yup, pretty much.

So many people, including myself, were on the fence before the transcript came out, saying "it seems worth investigating the whistleblower complaint, but I don't necessarily expect them to find much ". Then Trump released the smoking gun transcript of him committing the crime. And with out jaws hanging open we were like, "um, wow. Yeah. Impeachment is obviously the only option. He's toast."

It would be an very interesting study in human psychology to understand how normally intelligent people on both sides can see the content of the transcript so differently.

As I see it, the 'it's nothing' side of this are giving a man proven to lie almost daily an abnormal, in the best of circumstances, 'benefit of the doubt'. Given Trump's record of shady activities, from the stormy Daniels pay off to the pre election back channel to putin, to the list of shady characters he has surrounded himself with, many now in jail, to the parade of men and women of integrity pushed out specifically because they would not yield on whether or not something Trump wanted to do was illegal, there is no rational basis for giving him such a 'benefit of the doubt'

Much like there’s no rational bases to assume it’s possible to have a conversation with you, about Trump, that isn’t filled with hysterics. Of course, if we apply your standards evenly, we wouldn’t be giving benefits of the doubt to the media, congress, most of Hollywood, many businessmen, nor our ruling elite. Yet, you will never do that.

I think it's worth noting at this point that Obamacare architect John Gruber infamously said that the Democrat party depends on the stupidity of its voters to move their agenda forward.

Technically, he said that Obamacare was deliberately written "in a tortured way" to conceal things from the public and then smugly added that the obfuscation succeeded due to "the stupidity of the American voter."
