It's not because it's easier to prosecute but because it apparently resonated better with their focus than the term "quid pro quo". It's purely a narrative construct and not a legal one.

Absolutely --- because this is all a media show, and it's why Schiff made himself chief prosecutor, judge and "I can't wait to get to a TV camera to tell what a tremendous prosecution I'm putting on".

Meanwhile, the TV audience is leaving in droves.
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

Besides, Schiff has Schifted to bribery.
It is a bribery statute that applies in this case. I have heard that discussed by lawyers. Normally, in legal proceedings, a prosecutor would state the relevant law at the beginning. That has not happened yet.

The only way this didn't come from trump is if Sondland and Giulianni and every other actor enforcing the idea that the aid was tied to the investigations of the Biden's was acting 'on their own'.

And frankly, that just isn't plausible.

            • And yet somehow he managed to convince Sondland he cared almost nothing for Ukraine, just the investigations. So much so Sondland acted in such a way as to convince a fairly large group of people they were connected. Again, the idea this was not purposed, was 'an accident' is not credible. Trump said what he knew he had to say in an attempt to avoid what is before us today, nothing more, nothing less.

But that is not proof or evidence - it certainly is not enough to remove a sitting President...

Beyond a shadow of a doubt, it most certainly is.

It still has to be proven, Jim. Maybe that can happen in the House, where Schiff has made himself judge, jury and PR man, but in the Senate there will be an actual judge and actual rules of evidence.

An impression he appears to have arrived at only after being exposed to all the three and four-times removed gossips spreading their unsupported rumors and hearsay.

And where Schiff can't ban any and all exculpatory witnesses and forbid questions the answers to which would cause him at the very least embarrassment.

That was Sondland's opinion, which he formed in direct contradiction to Trump's emphatic and unambiguous statements as quoted by Sondland under oath.

Come on, man, you're going to seriously injure yourself stretching like that.
