Things seem to have gotten a lot worse for team Trump today.

In the world's most obvious decision, a judge ruled that witnesses that the House subpoenas have to testify and the President can't block them doing so. Seems like Trump won't be able to continue to obstruct justice by preventing key witnesses testifying.

Another judge has ruled the White House has to release all the internal email records that went between different people & departments discussing the hold-up of Ukraine aid and discussing whether the hold-up was legal, and these emails are apparently 'wildly incriminating' say people who have seen them.

And Devin Nunes, the lead Republican on the House committee in the impeachment process, has himself been personally implicated in the Ukraine scandal. Apparently he personally traveled to Europe to meet with the corrupt Ukrainian ex-prosecutor, in an attempt to dig up dirt on Joe Biden. Nunes has refused to answer questions on the subject and has not denied it, but is defaulting to his normal scummery of doing dodgy things then suing people who reveal them (his existing lawsuits include one against a parody cow on twitter).


Oh, and also, almost forgot the other recent news... arrested Giuliani associate Lev Parnas has given congress recordings of Trump and Giuliani. And Giuliani seems to be in even more legal trouble himself than he previously seemed to be (which was a lot), and Giuliani has said he has "insurance" against Trump turning on him.

Mark Sandy:

Sandy’s testimony is the first public confirmation that the dispute at the OMB over the handling of the Ukraine aid became so intense that it contributed to resignations from the agency. In the transcript released Tuesday, Sandy said that he had voiced concerns within the agency about whether holding up the Ukraine aid comported with the law.

“I just made a general reference to the Impoundment Control Act ... and said that we would have to assess that with the advice of counsel before proceeding,” Sandy said in describing a conversation he had with a political appointee at the agency who was his superior.


Ultimately, that political appointee, Mike Duffey, took over the process of signing off on the documents that held up the Ukraine money. Sandy told impeachment investigators that until that time, Duffey had voiced no interest in the process of approving apportionments.
