Hey don't blame us, these other industrial countries don't need us to reduce their own carbon levels. But hey - why not blame America first...

France tried to do something and now they're rioting in the streets. I bet the demonstrations that have lasted for months weren't even funded by BIG OIL. Or... were they

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't our carbon emissions dropping while several of those countries that make the loudest noises don't have such a sterling record?

And the Paris agreement would have essentially opened the doors of the US vault and handed them money, all in the name of saving the planet. That's why so many countries were angry at Trump for pulling out of the deal. As I said earlier, the only "green" that environmentalists care about is other people's money.

But, but the atmosphere knows that the bad guys are the ones with the highest per capita numbers and volume isn't as important as hurting the bad people in order to save the planet...

Yeah, I don't get it either.

I presume you're confusing the 2015 Paris Agreement with the 1997 Kyoto Protocol. Different agreement, different city, different year, different rules.

The Paris Agreement requires countries to come up with their own plan regarding how to act, and present it, as well as present updates about how that plan is going. That's it. It doesn't require anyone to pay anyone else any money. It doesn't require much in the way of specifics about what the plans be - countries are free to come up with their own plans.

The Kyoto Protocol, which the US isn't an active part of, is a cap-and-trade system where countries who want to use more than the CO2 limit than the agreement allocates to them (the 'cap') can buy the privilege of doing so from other countries (the 'trade'). This system is usually now regarded as almost completely ineffective in actually reducing carbon emissions, and most environmentalists today roll their eyes at the idea of cap-and-trade as a solution to global warming. The US has never paid anyone as part of such cap-and-trade systems, and has not been an active participant in the Kyoto Protocol since it came into force.

So, no, it's in no way true that "the Paris agreement would have essentially opened the doors of the US vault and handed them money", that's completely false.

the only "green" that environmentalists care about is other people's money.
It is theoretically possible that someone in the world, someway, somehow, there is a person who pretends to be an environmentalist for financial interest. But, as an environmentalist myself I have never met them, nor ever heard of them. Nor can I easily imagine how that would even work - the incentives are all wrong to be in it for the money, because there isn't money in it. It's like imagining that the real reason people give money away to charity is to make themselves richer... as a theory it's just inherently stupid.

People I've encountered in the environmental movement have been, as far as I can tell, each and every one of them, genuinely passionate and genuinely concerned people. I think your comment is pretty slanderous toward a large number of really caring people, who have genuine concern for the world and the people in it and for the preservation of the good things in it for future generations.
"I hate him passionately", he's "a demonic force" - Tucker Carlson, in private, on Donald Trump
"Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly, against totalitarianism and for democratic socialism" - George Orwell
"[Capitalism] as it exists today is, in my opinion, the real source of evils. I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy" - Albert Einstein

                          Cynical and wrong.

The US is the second-largest emitter of carbon emissions worldwide, behind only China – as recognized by thirty-four US states (led by California and New York), which have undertaken their own ambitious carbon reduction plans.

But the U.S. global retreat on climate empowers China to fill the leadership vacuum, ceding U.S. influence in the clean energy race and strengthening China’s hand on other difficult issues like territorial disputes in the South China Sea etc. Already, indications are emerging that China is forging a new alliance with the EU to advance common climate policies without the United States. In short, Trump is giving away US leadership in the world which will render it without global influence to its own disadvantage.

You're wrong. "A new report has found that US carbon dioxide emissions rose by 3.4% in 2018 after three years of decline. ... In the 2015 climate accord, then President Barack Obama committed to reducing US emissions to at least 26% under 2005 levels by 2025."

Yes, Obama commits to an unattainable proposal one year after he leaves office, most likely knowing it would never be implemented because of the economic and social repercussions of trying to implement it. But he can still take credit for being the climate change savior. How convenient of him and admittedly pretty freaking smart.
