The goals are unattainable, both economically and sociopolitically. That's what you don't want to admit. World leaders know this (especially Macron), but they too won't admit it.
I've not discussed any goals ever on this site. I've only ever discussed the reality and the need to react to that reality responsibly. So there is nothing for me to admit, and you cant possibly even know what my position is on that aspect of this problem.

I'm still waiting for Conservatives to really push for rolling back restrictions on nuclear power.

I sadly had to see yet again the danish government striking down a proposal for research into nuclear power on danish soil. Which is quite a bummer because modern reactor technology is really amazing compared to the old technology from the seventies, produces waste that loses almost all of its radiation in 300 years (instead of the 100000 years of older reactors).

Has all the earmarks of a colossal scam but we're supposed to ignore that part and pony up our way of life in the name of saving the planet for no apparent reason since we're also supposed to make ourselves extinct.

Too late for that. Name calling and blame game are all they have. That's not what you do when the thing is a real crisis.

Walks, talks and squawks like a duck, odds on favorite is it's a duck. This thing screams scam so we should believe it is a scam.

We agree on Nuclear, though I'm not sure what the potential is long term. That is, if 1/2 the world was nuclear. How long would the known sources of fuel last? Discounting breeders

If we can make them work. Yes.

Looks like fuel supplies in a world that embraced nuclear power would be practically forever

rogue tech laboratories and bait shop have been using contiguous fusion reactors (CFR or con-fusion reactors) for over 30 years now. An aside from that one little incident which resulted in TROMIE, THE NUCLEAR SQUIRREL we've been 100% accident free.

                      Almost.

                      Give or take.

Why discount breeder reactors? That's the whole point of 4th generational nuclear reactors. With those, the US can power itself for 10000 years simply from the depleted uranium 238 leftovers in your stockpiles from the decades worth of refining you've already done.

If the majority of the US believe it's a problem, then why would science skepticism matter? How is the minority of skeptics impeding both legislative and individual progress towards saving the planet? What is your solution? Remember it has to implemented within a 12 year period and effective enough to lower temperatures globally before that time. Unless you want to admit the "In 12 years it will be low late to turn it around" was a lie.

I wasn't sure if breeder can be done w/o using/creating weapons grade fuel. Just leaving out that which might potentially be unusable at the start of the discussion. but you are correct, if you include breeders (and potentially the sea as a uranium resource) you get, for all practical purposes, an unlimited (but not necessarily cheap) resource.

I think you are implying if we can't keep to a 2.0C goal, it's not worth doing anything at all. And no one is trying to actually lower temperatures globally. The goals target limiting the total temperature growth to some hopefully 'safe enough' value.

That's a big if. It may be true but it is a lot easier to weight for an election than a contentious issue especially when the electorate is changing. So few serious polls are done nowadays that some micro polls are little better than guessing.
