Even the right and moderate left consider slave owning and ethnic cleansing extreme. I'm surprised you don't.

He is correct though. The FF were generally conservative socially and economically.

Yes, but these things are universally wrong. It doesn't matter whether or not he can defend it seer. You cannot object to a person making a righteous accusation, by pointing out that they're an atheist. Whether whag has a consistent and satisfactory ethical worldview is irrelevant to his complaint here.

I won't comment on whether or not he is right, just that your objection here is a red herring.

Once properly amended of course. The constitution has grown and been altered over time, there's even a process laid out for doing just that. It isn't holy writ, nor is it infallible, or cast in stone. It both has been and will be updated as time goes on.

Nor in your "Christian world", so why are you complaining?

Well I'm glad you agree that it is not a consistent and satisfactory ethical worldview.

But the basic, original rights are still there and have been added to. And the idea of human rights being grounded in God is paramount in our Founding. That may not be Holy Writ but I think it is keeping with New Testament principles - don't you?

In the declaration of the independence yes, and I'd say that it is likely the founding fathers saw it the way you're describing. Though they wouldn't use the term "Grounding". They considered the truthes self-evident, and in no need of being grounded. The Declaration of Indepence is an apologia for rebelling against the rule of the British, despite God also clearly saying that we're to submit to authority. I believe, tentatively, that the US was in the right to do so.

Honestly, one can argue either side of many issues from Scripture.

If rebellion against earthly authority is universally proscribed, the Exodus never should have happened.
