It's the best modern art in the building, why are they covering it up?

The fact that a banana taped to a wall is considered art, but that isn't tells you everything you need to know about the so-called "art" industry.

But who are these cosmopolitan, sophisticated people saying that is is art? Art worth six figures? Do they live in DC?

Someone ate the banana taped to the wall.

The work, by Maurizio Cattelan, was ripe for the picking -- and on Saturday, it was unceremoniously taken off the wall at the Art Basel Miami Beach and eaten by a performance artist, amid a crowd of stunned onlookers, some of whom posted videos of the incident.
"I really love this installation. It's very delicious," David Datuna wrote on Instagram, alongside a video showing the aftermath of his stunt.

                    That would be category 1:

I would say taping a banana to a wall is burst right through the envelope into "jumping the shark" territory.

Man is arrested after scrawling 'Epstein didn't kill himself' in red lipstick on empty wall where $120,000 duct-taped banana exhibit was displayed at Miami's Art Basel

A man has been arrested after scrawling a message about Jeffrey Epstein on awall at Miami's Art Basel - in the same spot where a $120,000 duct-taped banana exhibit was displayed.

Roderick Webber, 46, from Massachusetts, was swiftly taken away by police after writing in red lipstick: 'Epstien (sic) didn't kill himself.'
                        ...
Webber shouted as he was escorted out of the Miami Beach convention center: 'If someone can eat the $120,000 banana and not get arrested, why can't I write on the wall?

'This is the gallery where anyone can do art, right?'

                          I have a question.

Does the wall the former banana was duct taped to come with the former banana and the duct tape? Assuming another banana gets taped to the wall for delivery to the brilliant person who spent 120 grand?

It seems to me that the wall is a major component of this spectacular art.

I would demand the entire building for that much.

                              That's what I was thinking.

120 grand buys a lot of bananas and duct tape, but what if you don't have a wall to utilize?

I'm curious about his statement, "This is the gallery where anyone can do art, right?"

Is he saying that you don't have to be a legitimate artist to exhibit in the gallery, or was there an open invitation for anybody to post their work?
