Pelosi: "They had to show the gang of four all the intelligence they had. The intelligence did not show that that was the case. So I knew it was a misrepresentation to the public."

JimL: "She didn't know for sure at the time that the Bush administration was lying any more than any one else knew for sure."

I mean, what planet are these folks on?

If it wasn't a lie it would be almost uniquely so.

Did the Iraq war accomplish anything lasting, other than burn through two trillion dollars and kill a couple of hundred thousand of civilians?

It took Iraq off the map as a serious threat when they killed Saddam and destroyed his government. Who knows what they might have done if left unchecked? They had already invaded Kuwait, remember. And they refused to let the UN inspectors into their nuclear plants, so they were planning something. They would probably be a nuclear power today if we left them unchecked.

So we should go to war with every adversary because "who knows what they might do if we just leave them unchecked." And as I remember it the Nuclear Inspecters cleared them of possessing WMD's.

I understand that that is the way the unprincipled Senate Republicans are going to try manipulate the trial in favor of the defendent, but I wouldn't count your chickens before they hatch. They, the republicans, had no intention to impeach or convict Nixon either, until the did.

You're absolutely delusional if you think the Iraq war is even the moral equivalent of Trump's phone call.
For one thing, it's not just "a phone call", it was a well thought out, a calculated scheme, to use desperately needed military aid in an attempt to extort a foriegn government to influence U.S. elections which btw is one of the main purposes for the Founding Fathers adding the "impeachment clause" as a power of Congress. And secondly, I never mentioned morality.

Don't feign ignorance, MM, it makes you look ignorant. He, Zelensky cancelled his CNN announcement to open an investigation into Biden only after the Presidents extortion scheme was found out.

We should eliminate any terrorist states that pose a threat to the free world. And no the inspectors didn't clear anything. They were not allowed into the facilities. And the WMDs we were worried about were chemical in nature.

That's how ISIS was created, that actually posed a threat.

ISIS was created because we left a vacuum for them to fill.

And how do you avoid leaving a vacuum?

Install a strong, friendly local government and keep troops there on bases like we did in Europe after WW2.
