    SL is actually correct on that one. The US spectrum is a Matterhorn-esque bell curve. The European is more like a speed bump. And we can just toss out liberal/conservative - they simply do not mean the same thing on both sides of the Atlantic.

    Still, there are indications of a right-ward shift in Europe.

      Their government wasn't being responsive and now they will get their Brexit.

      I think this will go well for them, after a brief painful adjustment period.

        Yeah I pretty much agree. Not sure how painful the adjustment is going to be.

          Or brief. But if the Japan experience is any indication it is better to just do what needs to be done rather than doing it in dribs and drabs in a vain attempt to lessen the pain but instead just greatly extending it.
