Why is it that the political left...
...calls the current situation concerning Iraq a war before the fighting has actually started, yet are unwilling to call an unborn human a baby or person before it's born?

Perhaps because fighting has already started there? Strategic bombings, advanced psy-ops and covert activities doing advance recon and destroying pieces of vital infrastructure, etc.
Why is it that the political right never seems to be aware of current affairs?

Lizard Being of course totally misses Jinx's point, but whether it's through obtuseness or dishonesty I can't tell.
Jinx raises a very good point. The Loony Left profess to be concerned with defending the weak and helpless in society, but have this moral blind spot with the most defenceless members of society. They are being slaughtered on a far more massive scale than even a worst-case scenario in Iraq. And being deliberately targeted although innocent, although the Allies will do their best to minimise civilian casualties in Iraq.

Not obtuse. Just better informed than you. That's not saying much, I'll grant; but in this case, it means that your attempt at making a jab fell flat, because your facts weren't in order.Today @ 07:41 PM

Don't act surprised - I'm sure you're used to being in that state by now.

Why not? It's military actions taken by one country, against another country. You don't consider daily bombings and destruction of radar installations to be war? Maybe you should ask the Iraqis if they think the war has already started. But none of that is actual war.
Not the same as war, eh? Perhaps you're hiding behind semantics, hmm?? In which case, this entire Iraq action will never be a war, since only Congress can declare war and they haven't done so.
So you're checkmated either way.
Behold the eloquence of conservatives. Maybe you'd like a wooden club and bearskin?Blah blah blah.

One gets rather annoyed with the equation Christian=political conservative.
In the UK the Left grew out of the Christian non-establishment churches in opposition to the formal Anglican Toryism that held sway and maintained the status quo (hence "conservative"). I am on the political left, and I do not agree with abortion etc.

Sure you are. Because you watch CNN, right?Today @ 12:05 AM

Sure. Right. Whatever. Fact: we aren't at war with Iraq. That's not saying much, I'll grant; but in this case, it means that your attempt at making a jab fell flat, because your facts weren't in order.
Wow. I didn't know I was conversing with a child. What's next? "I know you are, but what am I?"Don't act surprised - I'm sure you're used to being in that state by now.
So, since we've been doing such things since the early '90s, I guess that means we've been "at war" with Iraq for over a decade. That'd be news to, well, just about everyone. So where were the anti-war protesters when Clinton was bombing Iraq... and aspirin factories... and Serbs... and...Why not? It's military actions taken by one country, against another country. You don't consider daily bombings and destruction of radar installations to be war?
Not surpisingly, they would say, "no."Maybe you should ask the Iraqis if they think the war has already started.
Nope. Even the UN agrees with that. Not the same as war, eh?
Alright, then. I'll call what has been going on with Iraq for the last decade "war" and you call unborn humans "persons." Deal?Perhaps you're hiding behind semantics, hmm??
You're presuming that they never will.In which case, this entire Iraq action will never be a war, since only Congress can declare war and they haven't done so.
Somehow I doubt you (and all the anti-war protesters) would admit that we were at war with Iraq (as well as many other regions around the world) under Clinton, even though we were by your extremely loose definition. So you're checkmated either way.
No, but I'd like a mop and bucket to clean up the mess you've made of trying to carry on a logical, reasoned conversation.Behold the eloquence of conservatives. Maybe you'd like a wooden club and bearskin?GONE FOR GOOD BECAUSE THE MODS ARE FRICKIN' RETARDS
