The bearded guy was Jim Baker. The blonde was Paula White. Come on, man, you think most Christians you've had discussion and debate with on here follow these people? Whether White is or isn't Trump's "spiritual advisor" -- whatever that is -- I wouldn't doubt that's probably up for debate. I've personally never heard that before.

She certainly thinks she's his spiritual advisor. She even knew him allllll the way back when he was a pro choice Democrat. And she's 51 years old with wrinkle free skin like that?! Either God is good or her doctors are *great*.

Having known Trump for over 17 years, White, the 51-year-old pastor of New Destiny Christian Center in Apopka, Florida is considered to be Trump's closest spiritual adviser and often attests to the president's Christian faith. She was also one of six faith leaders to speak at Trump's inauguration...

Falwell Jr. was also in that video for a bit but I forgot about Bakker who got more screen time.

Like I said at the start this video wasn't aimed at me so I assumed the people they included in it would be recognizable and noteworthy to Christian Trump supporters.

Yeah the ad is not very clear as to its point.

In the real world I think Trump is a fake Christian fooling many evangelicals, and that US evangelicals are largely fake Christians and one of the many ways they demonstrate that fakeness is their support for Trump.

My question from post#7 makes the dynamic of the argument different. Are we arguing evangelicals are being fooled by Trump? If so, so what? Evangelicals always rally around a Republican president, and most of the evangelicals shown in the clip, Christians here don't follow anyway. So all the hyper bombastic spiritual nonsense they surround Trump with is the same hyper bombastic spiritual nonsense they engage in their own ministry that no one here takes seriously.

Was not Franklin Graham in that clip? And while you may not like it, I know more than enough evangelicals that take seriously the idea Trump is God's man. It's not nearly as fringe as you are letting on here.

Yeah, most of the folks here have admitted in one way or another they are tolerating/defending trump because he's approaching the judiciary in a way that pleases them.

I'm cool with him appointing conservative judges. This will have a lasting effect long after Trump is gone. In fact, that may be the only real reason I support him. Up to this point, he was less of a warmonger than his predecessors, but I guess we'll have to see how all this goes down.

It comes across as a non-Christian's idea of what they think will appeal to mainstream evangelicals.

It's fairly obvious what it is saying seanD. It's saying there is a subset of Christian ministry that is pushing the Idea that Donald Trump is a man chosen by God and it is a Christians duty to support him no matter what he does, no matter how contrary to Christian faith his actions, policies, behavior, and words might be. These are clips of ministers of the Gospel, well known, popular people, not just saying Trump is the better of two rock and hard place choices, but that Donald Trump has the full and nearly unlimited backing of God Himself.

And I have to wonder if some of the "well known" evangelists vice their support of Trump in this manner because they are playing to their base just like Trump is playing to his base.

The Benny Hinn, Joel Osteen, TBN crowd who worship money, think God is their personal vending machine, who think they can have anything they want if they just pray and believe hard enough. These people tend to already worship cults of personality, like the people you see in the clip. These false teachers lead their flock by the nose, getting them to buy them expensive houses and planes, buying holy anointing oil and prayer rugs.

Most evangelicals and Christians in general are not like that.
