Well, it was a proper dismissal, upheld by the appellate court; the litigants lacked standing AND had no legal basis for their complaint. A case has to be pretty weak to get tossed like that; motions to dismiss are not granted lightly.

If Trump were to walk on water across the reflecting pool and cleanse the politicians of their sins it would not settle the issue.
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

Ah... wait, given my grab-bag post, it wasn't clear to me exactly what firstfloor was responding to. I thought he was calling the Senate vote to acquit a mere dismissal.

No, the dimissal was due to the fact that individual members of Congress have no legal standing to file the complaint. Therefore it was dismissed on a legal technicality.

And if he were to shoot someone in the middle of 5th ave it wouldn't settle the issue for you members of the Trump cult.

I was referring to the emoluments case.

In the impeachment, Trump was acquitted, but because it was a political verdict and the prosecution were not allowed to call witnesses, there is no justification for claiming that Trump was not guilty. We know for certain that the POTUS is an infamous crook who got away with it; to his and the Repubs eternal shame.

And, I know this is hard to believe, but there are actually boobs out there who actually believe he was being serious.

Because it was a political prosecution.

It means that a POTUS can do anything if he has the Senate.

He can even commit perjury and tamper with witnesses without consequence.

We are talking about Bill Clinton, aren't we?

Right, dismissed on a legal technicality.

Not if the majority Senate he has is an unprincipled political Senate, such as we have presently. They just proved it!
