The section of the wall that fell down was replacing a section of the existing wall rather than extending the coverage. Perhaps when the Mexicans paid for it, as Trump promised repeatedly they would, they scrimped.

Still wrong little jimmy. Even a CNN talking head was forced to admit that it's a new wall and not repairs though part of it replaced some old rundown fencing^[1]. As acting Secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf made clear:

"One thing I want to emphasize is that every inch of the 100 miles that we have constructed is new border wall system," he added. "It's not so-called replacement wall, as some of our critics claimed. It is new wall."
