I really don't get how the ludicrous propaganda claim that Obama wasn't respected has done so well.

Obama was by far and away the most internationally-respected US President in my lifetime. That's just a fact. Poll after poll after poll backs it up. Here's just a few headlines from polling agencies that have conducted international polls on the subject:
President Obama Leaves Office with High Worldwide Approval Ratings
As Obama Years Draw to Close, President and U.S. Seen Favorably in Europe and Asia
Trumpís International Ratings Remain Low, Especially Among Key Allies

US conservatives seem to en masse be woefully blind to how their presidents are viewed internationally. Bush was viewed as a laughingstock. Obama was viewed as a particularly great leader. Trump is viewed as a laughingstock's laughingstock and a definite candidate for any list of history's most foolish and failed leaders. The fact that US conservatives don't seem to understand that that is what the rest of the world thinks, and in fact think it's the other way around, is kinda worrying and kinda hilarious.

So if Pete, as you suggest, is thought of 10x worse than Obama, he'll still be doing well, much better than Bush or Trump.

As has been repeatedly noted the rest of the world tends to like us the most when we're hurting or weak and loathe us when we're strong. Obama symbolized a weak, anemic America so it wouldn't be a surprise that he was liked by you guys.

I'm always still in trouble again

By "allies". He spent most of his time apologizing to everyone else.

That's just a fact. Poll after poll after poll backs it up. Here's just a few headlines from polling agencies that have conducted international polls on the subject:
President Obama Leaves Office with High Worldwide Approval Ratings

Of course allies loved Obama. He basically was giving away US tax dollars wherever he could. Nothing like having a rich patsy in the neighborhood.

Oh, and he was black, which appealed to progressive allies. They gave him a Peace Prize for doing nothing more than being black - and then he ended up fomenting lots of chaos in the Middle East (some peaceful guy).

You're creating your own reality now. Conservatives here don't believe Trump is popular internationally, so why are you claiming so? Being "popular" among allies and being feared by enemies aren't the same thing.

So if Pete, as you suggest, is thought of 10x worse than Obama, he'll still be doing well, much better than Bush or Trump.

It's called homophobia, sometimes related to self hatred and fear of ones own affinity to homosexuality.

That's a rather typical progressive retort, "You're a homophobe and that makes you gay!" Similar to playing the race card, which is equally unimpressive.

Getting back to my point, the optics of Buttgieg is horrible. Similarly, I wouldn't want a president who drooled all the time. I guess that makes me a drooler, right?

I don't think black or Hispanic men will be thrilled with Mayor Lollipop either...
